Ivan Chirivella was flight instructor of Mohamed Atta and Marwan al-Shehh 9/11 terrorist pilots while at Jones Aviation Academy SRQ airport Sarasota Fl. The  9/11 pilots Mohamed Atta and Marwan al-Shehh learned to fly planes at Huffman Aviation and Ziad Jarrah was at Florida Flight Training Center (FFTC) in the city of Venice Fl. Mohamed Atta and Marwan al-Shehh were also at Jones Aviation at the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport in Sarasota Fl. 9/11 terrorist pilot Mohamed Atta had full access to SRQ airport and it's road layout for about 4 weeks in fall of 2000, he would have known the area and could have given instructions on how to get onto the airport tamarack. 

On September 11th, 2001 president George Bush was in Sarasota Fl and his airplane, Air Force One, was sitting at the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport near where the 9/11 hijack pilots trained. The President, who was visiting Emma E. Booker Elementary School, was quickly evacuated by the Secret Service and local police to SRQ before taking off for a rapid ascent to evade potential threats. On or about August 2000, Ziad Jarrah (9/11 pilot Flight #93) attempted to enroll al-Qaeda terrorist Ramzi Binalshibh in the 'Florida Flight Training Center' (FFTC) flight school in Venice Florida, his visa application was denied 4 times. Ramzi Binalshibh sent a deposit to the Florida Flight Training Center but failed on multiple occasions in the year 2000 to obtain a US Visa. 

In late September 2000, Mohamed Atta and his pal Marwan al Shehhi decided to enroll at Jones Aviation Academy at the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport in Sarasota Fl. According to Ivan Chirivella the instructor at Jones Aviation Academy, the two were aggressive, rude, and sometimes even fought with him to take over the controls during their training flights, investigators reported. In early October 2000, Mohamed Atta, Marwan al Shehhi took the Stage I exam for instruments rating at Jones Aviation at SRQ airport and failed. Very upset, they said they were in a hurry because jobs awaited them at home.

On October 11th, 2000 Mohamed Atta and Marwan al-Shehhi gave a Sun Trust Bank deposit check #610 of $2,000 to Jones Aviation at SRQ airport for continued flight lessons from September 2000. Due to the bad blood between Mohamed Atta and Ivan Chirivella the flight instructor at Jones Aviation Academy SRQ airport they were told to come back on October 12th to pick up the check and move on somewhere else. In September 2000, Iván was working as an instructor at the Jones Aviation Academy in Sarasota (Florida) to earn an income and gain flight hours. It was in this month that he met Mohamed Atta and Marwan Al Shehhi, who came interested in taking a course in instrument flight. Atta and Al Shehhi were terrible students for him, Atta was an unfriendly and dominant person, while Al Shehhi was a more submissive individual, Atta always having the upper hand.

 

On October 12th, 2000, Atta and Al Shehhi were expelled from Jones Aviation Academy after the former verbally assaulted a secretary who corrected him when he tried to sign for his partner, whom he always introduced as his "cousin": "You shut up. Don't talk to me or tell me what I can or can't do, you're nothing but a woman," said Atta. This was the straw that broke the camel's back for Ivan Chirivella, and they were both expelled that same day. Atta and Shehhi then returned to Huffman in Venice on October 18th, 2000. 'There Ain't No Coincidences in Terrorism'.

Ivan Chirivella was the flight instructor of Mohamed Atta and Marwan al-Shehh two of the terrorists responsible for the 9/11 terror attacks at Jones Aviation Academy SRQ airport Sarasota Fl. Ivan Chirivella’s involvement in the September 11 attacks is highlighted in his book, published in 2003, "The Innocent Accomplice: Diary of the Spanish Pilot Who Taught the 9/11 Terrorists to Fly". All proceeds from the book were donated to the Association of Victims of Terrorism. According to his book, Marwan al-Shehhi and Mohamed Atta, hijackers of United Airlines Flight 175 and American Airlines Flight 11, respectively, were entrusted to Ivan Chirivella by Jones Aviation Academy after they “paid hefty sums of money to get the best instructors.” Chirivellas described them as “normal,” but noted that they had an aggressive attitude, odd sexist behavior toward female staff, short tempers, and a strong interest in Boeing commercial flights. “I didn’t understand at the time their interest in those planes, when they couldn’t even pass the basic theoretical exams.”
