UPDATE Arizona Republic Newspaper writes May 6th, 2026; Lake Havasu City Police Department's Criminal Investigations Unit, in a statement sent on Tuesday, May 5, the police department confirmed that, after investigation, the manner of death of Darrell Sheets has been ruled a suicide, pending the completion of toxicology results. "Our agency continues to actively investigate allegations of cyberbullying associated with this case," the statement said. "The Criminal Investigations Unit has submitted Darrell Sheets’ cellular phone for forensic analysis and is currently awaiting the results."

Sheets was found dead in the early hours of April 22, 2026, at a residence in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, the local police department shared in a statement. The cause of death "appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head," the statement said. Sheets was pronounced dead at the scene.The incident is currently under investigation by the Lake Havasu City Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit and the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s office, authorities said.
