STAND YOUR GROUND IT'S THE LAW IN FL; Private investigator says don't be victim of violent crime, practice, practice, practice. As a private investigator in Sarasota, FL my publicly available statements focus on self-defense, rather than specific gun control legislation. As
of February 18, 2026, Florida’s Stand Your Ground statute (§ 776.013)
remains substantially the same as in prior years. There has been no
legislative repeal, retraction, or replacement of the core language
abolishing the duty to retreat or defining when defensive force may be
used. see more at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOaEaPhsSXQ
STAND YOUR GROUND IT'S THE LAW IN FLORIDA. Under Florida law ( Florida Statute § 776.012 and Florida Statute § 776.013), you have no duty to retreat and can use deadly force if you reasonably believe it is necessary to prevent imminent death, great bodily harm, or a forcible felony. That means: Individuals lawfully present in a location where they have a right to be can still invoke Stand Your Ground protections if they reasonably believe they face imminent harm. The no-duty-to-retreat principle continues to apply not just in a home or residence, but throughout the larger statutory framework of §§ 776.012 and 776.013. see more at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOaEaPhsSXQ
