Springfield, Massachusetts on July 2, 1969. In 2018, Samuel Little

rocket attack at Fire Support Base Jerri, in Phuoc Long Province, South

Thursday Dec 14, 2023, FBI has dug up the body of auburn haired Joyce Malecki, her body
exhumed from Loudon Park Cemetery in Baltimore with her family’s
permission as the FBI explores an unspecified lead (link to DNA). “The
FBI gave us no indication other than to say the purpose of the
exhumation is to collect evidence (DNA),” Kurt Wolfgang
told WBAL-TV. “Our best speculation is that they may be looking for DNA
evidence to match it up with a potential suspect they may already have,
(like serial killer Samuel Little).” Wolfgang
said the FBI has been "very tight" with their information and about
what their theory is at this point, but he knows they've profiled several serial murderers from that era
and sees some parallels to Malecki's crime. "In order to justify this
exhumation," Wolfgang said, "we think they have a definite suspect and are looking for something specific to link that suspect to Joyce Malecki." Kurt Wolfgang is executive director of Maryland Crime Victims’ Resource Center.

In June 1971 Samuel Little aka Samuel McDowell, DOB 6/7/1940, was indicted by the Grand Jury in Cleveland Ohio on a charge of Armed Robbery of the Westlake Gas Station. A woman by the name of Lucy Maria Medero was being held in jail as a material witness to the crime. Samuel Little aka Samuel McDowell's bond was set at $5,000. The case appears to go to trial in January 1972. *NOTE, just 5 months later Samuel Mcdowell aka Samuel Little was arrested in the District, Washington D.C., on a gun charge May 28, 1972, and then a few weeks later he murdered a young woman in Laurel MD on or about the 2nd week of June 1972.
BACKGROUND 1954 - 1966: According to records kept at the Ohio History Connection in Columbus, Samuel Little was committed to the Boys’ Industrial School, a reformatory for teen-aged boys in Lancaster, southeast of Columbus Ohio, in February 1954. He was 13. His booking card listed him under the name of his grandparents, Samuel McDowell, and said he was there for stealing. (He had stolen a bike) His IQ was listed as 96. His mother’s whereabouts were “unknown.” In 1956, Little was arrested for burglary in Omaha, Nebraska, and served time at a youth authority. In 1957, prison records in Columbus show he broke into a Danley’s Dry Cleaners in Lorain and was sent to the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield. He was paroled from Mansfield after a few years, but then sent back in October 1961 for breaking into an abandoned furniture warehouse in Elyria. Later, Little said he learned to box during his stints at Mansfield, using his then-5-foot-11-inch, 155-pound body to pummel other inmates. He was paroled from Mansfield again in December 1964. In a grainy photo taken on the day of his release, he was a gangling 24 year old. He stood uneasily in a cream-white suit with big lapels. His arms were stiff at his sides, hands bunched into almost-fists. He had grown up in prison. In 1966, Little was arrested by Cleveland police for assault and battery. He had beaten a woman.

then strangled them while he raped them. With no stab marks or bullet wounds, many of these
deaths were not classified as homicides but attributed to drug

often not available or could not provide a clear link back to Sam

Mounts, 26, whose badly-beaten body was found on the side of a highway
in Alachua County, Florida, on Sept. 12, 1982. “I noticed her neck was pretty ... That’s what I was looking at,” Allen quotes Little as saying in an interview. “I got excited when I seen her throat.” He was acquitted of
Mounts' murder in January 1984. Samuel Little said that he and his 'gal pal" a woman he traveled with, Orelia Jean Dorsey,
were professional shoplifters using a booster bag and would go
coast-to-coast, California to Florida. His long-time girlfriend, Orelia
Jean Dorsey, followed him on his travels when she could and occasionally
sheltered him in her Los Angeles home. Most of Samuel Little's murders
were in these two states. Samuel Little's mother and grandmother died
shortly after he met Jean in 1972 and 1973 respectively, probably a
trigger for his rampage against women for the next 45 years.

On May 31, 2019, Cuyahoga County, Ohio
prosecutors announced indictments, with four counts of aggravated
murder and six counts of kidnapping, that accuse Samuel Little of
killing white female Mary Jo Peyton in 1984 and white female Rose Evans
in 1991 in Cleveland .
Both victims were strangled and dumped. The body of Rose Evans, 32, was
found on August 24, 1991, in a vacant lot on East 39th St. She left her
hometown of Binghamton, New York in 1976. Rose Evans had been strangled according to coroner Elizabeth K. Balraj. Rose
Evans left her small hometown of Binghamton, New York, when she was 17
with a group of friends visiting Cleveland, her younger sister Pam Smith
told The Plain Dealer news. The friends returned but her sister didn’t.
Evans, then Rose Smith, got caught up with drugs and married a no-good
husband who had her working the streets, Smith said.
As for Peyton, an anthropologist had to create a model of what she
looked like, but she remained unidentified until 1992 when Cleveland put
her thumbprint in an FBI data base and got a match. Little picked up
Peyton at a bar near East 105th and Euclid
avenues. He described her as a short, plump woman in her 20s with brown
hair. Little also confessed to killing another Cleveland woman in 1977
or 1978. The woman murdered in 1977 or 1978 was found on March 18, 1983,
in Willoughby Hills according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System
(NamUs). She was likely black and somewhere between 17 and 35 years
old. The woman's body had been dumped down a grassy slope, near a fence
in a wooded area just off Interstate 271 ; when her body was found by a man walking his dog, only her skeleton, some clothing and jewelry remained.
