June 29, 2025 St Augustine Florida; The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office released video footage of a kidnapping attempt as an example of effective self-defense. The Sheriff’s Office’s Women Against Violent Encounters program offers safety tips and self-defense training. In releasing a dramatic video of a man attempting to force a woman into a stolen truck in a parking lot, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said the victim did everything right — scream, fight and attract attention.
Theodore Michael Tundidor, 31, who’s listed as homeless, was charged with kidnapping, robbery, grand theft auto, driving under the influence and fleeing and eluding law enforcement.
The woman was an employee at the 206 Smoke Shop on Florida 206 when a man robbed the business about 3:30 p.m. on June 29 and then dragged her outside with an arm around her neck and began to push her into the pickup truck.
She is seen and heard on the video screaming to “get off me” and yelling for help while making it difficult for him to control her. She gets away briefly and runs back toward the shop with him in pursuit and the video cuts off. The Sheriff’s Office said another woman intervened at that point and the suspect abandoned his attempts.
