CBS NEWS Aug 29, 2024. Family members of 9/11 victims call on Pres Donald Trump to oppose U.S.-Saudi deal. More than 3,000 family members of victims from the 9/11 terrorist attacks are calling on both Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump to oppose any Middle East peace deal with Saudi Arabia until the U.S. government holds the country accountable for any role it might have played on Sept. 11. In the letter first obtained by CBS News, the families point to 1999 video footage of a Saudi government agent Omar al-Bayoumi "casing" the U.S. Capitol as proof of Saudi involvement. "60 Minutes" reported on the video for the first time in June. "As you campaign to become the next President of the United States, we ask you to pledge that you will not endorse any Middle East peace deal involving Saudi Arabia unless it fully addresses the role of the Saudi Arabian government in the 9/11 attacks," the letter reads. "Justice and closure for the victims and their families must be a priority in our foreign policy."

Ziyad Khaleel, also known as Khalil Ziyad, Ziyad Sadaqa, and Ziyad Abdulrahman, was a Palestinian-American al-Qaeda member, a made guy, based in the United States, primarily in Colorado, Florida, Michigan and Missouri. He had been identified as a “procurement agent” for Osama bin Laden, arranging the purchase and delivery of “computers, satellite telephones, and covert surveillance equipment” for the leadership of al-Qaeda, as well as administering a number of radical Islamic websites as webmaster, including the website of the terrorist group Hamas. Khaleel was a roving jack-of-all-trades in the American underground militant Islamic community, while in Orlando, Florida, Khaleel served as the regional director for the Columbia, Missouri-based Islamic African Relief Agency (IARA), an Islamic charity that funded Al-Qaeda.

Ziyad Khaleel was also directly linked to Imam Anwar al-Awlaki who assisted the two 9/11 hijackers in San Diego and then again in Falls Church VA. None of that is on Muneer Karem Arafat's current online resume where he uses a cell phone with a prefix for Amman Jordan 1+ 962-79-645-6XXX as contact.

Muneer Kazem Arafat, Iman at Sarasota Mosque and then Boca Raton Mosque, was born in Kuwait on 5/10/1963 and the family eventually moved to Jordan. Muneer Arafat claims he is a Jordanian born in Kuwait of Palestinian decent BUT not related to Yasser Arafat. Imam Muneer Kazem Arafat, DOB 5/10/1963, was linked to Al-Qaeda and Hamas agents while in the USA.

When Muneer Arafat returned to Sarasota from testify in St Louis before a federal grand Jury in early December 2002 it appears the FBI flipped him and he supposedly was working for them. Muneer Arafat was wearing a wire for the FBI and was involved in a FBI terrorism investigation from December 2002 to end of 2003 in Sarasota Fl. None of that is on Muneer Arafat's online resume.

The only Sarasota FBI terrorism investigation I am aware of that took place in from Feb 2002 through all of 2003 is the one run by FBI agent Thomas Baugher and involved Abdulaziz al-Hijji aka "Azziz" and Anoud al-Hijji who just happened to have attended the same Mosque where the 'Imam' was Muneer Arafat from March 2000 to Feb 2005, (al-Hijji fled Sarasota Fl in August 2000). Abdulaziz al-Hijji aka "Azziz" knew Imam Muneer Arafat in 2000. It became known that Muneer Arafat later worked for the FBI as an undercover CI wearing a wire from December 9th 2002 through 2003. Muneer Arafat would have had direct contact with Sarasota FBI agent Thomas Baugher and the Sarasota Police Dept. and Sarasota County Sheriff Office Detectives during the 2002 – 2003 Sarasota investigation. 

Muneer Arafat never had the dark blue 2000 Isuzu Trooper SUV that he purchased in January 2000 in East St Louis Illinois with plate number 3678625 in the New York City area for any period of time in 2000, 2001, 2002. The dark blue 2000 Isuzu Trooper SUV was never registered in the State of New York and as of his May 2003 arrest in Sarasota Fl Muneer Arafat he was driving the dark blue 2000 Isuzu Trooper SUV with Illinois plate number 3678625 and he did not have a valid drivers license. No possible way that Muneer Arafat was driving this 2000 Isuzu Trooper SUV in New York City for any period of time in 2000, 2001 or 2002 without registering the vehicle and without a drivers license in New York City, never happened!  

According to a FDLE report of December 8, 2003 given by Sarasota FBI agent Thomas Baugher, “The source (CI) also spoke to Muneer ARAFAT as the Imam of the local Sarasota Mosque and that Muneer ARAFAT was a member of the Kuwaiti Islamic Brotherhood (in Kuwait same time as 9/11 head of operations KSM), who follows a radical belief and teachings of ALBAZ, and wishes harm to the United States”. None of that is on Muneer Arafat's online resume.

April 3rd 2002 FBI report indicates that at least two people linked to the al-Hijji house in Prestancia Sarasota Fl were taking flight lessons at Huffman Aviation with the 9/11 hijackers in the year 2000. Individuals tied to Huffman Flight School and 9/11 Hijackers by FBI linked to 4224 Escondito Circle Sarasota as family members appear to be Abdulaziz al-Hijji aka "Azziz" and Adel Ghazzawi son of Esam Ghazzawi. In the year 2000, Sarasota Saudi’s Abdulaziz al-Hijji aka "Azziz" then age 27 and his brother in law Adel Ghazzawi then age 30, were contemporaries of 9/11 Hijack Pilots Ziad Jarrah then age 25, Marwan Al-Shehhi then age 22, and Monamed Atta then age 32 who all appear to have taken Flight Training in Venice Fl at the same time, small world, eh? It appears the Adel Ghazzawi had been staying at 4224 Escondito Circle Sarasota, he also was linked to a address in nearby Longboat Key Fl.

Parks College of Engineering Aviation and Technology trains students to become skilled pilots as well as strong industry leaders. Flight School in aviation, planes, hours, certification. The Center for Aviation Science is housed at the St. Louis Downtown Airport, located at 4300 Vector Drive in Cahokia, Illinois. Students enrolled in SLU’s Parks College aviation program are able to fly within weeks of their freshman year, and continuously gather more and more certification throughout each year of the flight science degree program. 'Muneer Arafat the Jihad Preaching Imam' had his pilot's license in 1990 way before he shows up at the Sarasota Mosque in March 2000 and just months before 9/11 pilots Mohamed Atta and his two pals show up in July 2000 to take flight lessons in Venice, how about that. Six days later, on January 10, 2001, Mohamed Atta re-entered the United States at Miami Airport from Madrid. Mohamed Atta made two trips to Madrid, paid for with al Qaeda funds. The Atta - Binalshibh meeting was held at a hotel in the Catalan town of Reus Spain, Moroccans Amer Azizi and Driss Chebli were also there. ''We know Atta was here on two occasions,'' Juan Cotino, director general of Spain's National Police Corps, said in an interview in Madrid. In October 2001, Michael Chertoff was appointed head of Operation Green Quest by Pres George Bush, a multi-agency initiative to target sources of funding for terrorist organizations, according to a U.S. Customs Service (later ICE) press release. Underground financial systems, illicit charities, and corrupt financial institutions are among the entities to be scrutinized as possible facilitators of terrorist funding. Chertoff told the Associated Press on Oct. 25, 2001 that, ‘The lifeblood of terrorism is money, and if we cut the money we cut the blood supply.’ Chertoff served in the capacity of Assistant Attorney General of the criminal division at the Department of Justice from 2001 to 2003.

“They [The FBI] won’t share anything with us,’ said a Homeland Security official. ‘Then they go to the White House and they accuse us (ICE) of not sharing . . . If they can’t take it over, they want to kill it.’ The Treasury Department agencies participating in Operation Green Quest are the Customs Service (ICE), the Internal Revenue Service, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, the Office of Foreign Assets Control, and the Secret Service. If nothing else, the battle over Green Quest illustrates the bureaucratic tensions that still plague the war on terror. The creation of the Homeland Security Department was supposed to put an end to such turf fights. The new department took over a diverse assortment of federal agencies that had various responsibilities for combating terrorism, including the Customs Service (ICE), the Immigration and Naturalization Service and the U.S. Border Patrol.”

The FBI closely guards its files on Ghazzawi and has steadfastly refused to release even his name – except once in an apparent oversight while processing documents for release to Florida Bulldog. The documents were a copy of a letter and a list of phone numbers received by the FBI on July 23, 2002. Details about the letter and the list were blanked out, but the “title” of the file into which they were placed – Esam Ghazzawi – was not. When “big poppy” Esam Ghazzawi left the U.S. in 2001, Adel Ghazzawi apparently took over the family’s affairs in Sarasota. It was Adel, then 30 and an American citizen, who tried to get a Prestancia lien lifted so the house could be sold. KSM denies that Saudis were chosen for the 9/11 plot to drive a wedge between the United States and Saudi Arabia, and stresses practical reasons for considering ethnic background when selecting operatives. He says that so many were Saudi because Saudis comprised the largest portion of the pool of recruits in the al Qaeda training camps. KSM estimates that in any given camp, 70 percent of the mujahideen were Saudi, 20 percent were Yemeni, and 10 percent were from elsewhere. Although Saudi and Yemeni trainees were most often willing to volunteer for suicide operations, prior to 9/11 it was easier for Saudi operatives to get into the United States. Like many other al Qaeda operatives, the Saudis who eventually became the muscle hijackers were targeted for recruitment outside Afghanistan- probably in Saudi Arabia itself. Al Qaeda recruiters, certain clerics, and-in a few cases-family members probably all played a role in spotting potential candidates. Several of the muscle hijackers seem to have been recruited through contacts at local universities and Imam's at Mosques.  

 

According to the head of one of the training camps in Afghanistan, some were chosen by unnamed Saudi sheikhs who had contacts with al Qaeda. Omari, for example, is believed to have been a student of a radical Saudi cleric named Sulayman al Alwan. His mosque, which is located in al Qassim Province, is known among more moderate clerics as a "terrorist factory." The province is at the very heart of the strict Wahhabi movement in Saudi Arabia. Saeed al Ghamdi and Mohand al Shehri also spent time in al Qassim, both breaking with their families. According to his father, Mohand al Shehri's frequent visits to this area resulted in his failing exams at his university in Riyadh. 

 

Saeed al Ghamdi transferred to a university in al Qassim, but he soon stopped talking to his family and dropped out of school without informing them. KSM claims that Bin Ladin could assess new trainees very quickly, in about ten minutes, and that many of the 9/11 hijackers were selected in this manner. Bin Ladin, assisted by Atef, personally chose all the future muscle hijackers for the planes operation, primarily between the summer of 2000 and April 2001. Upon choosing a trainee, Bin Ladin would ask him to swear loyalty for a suicide operation. After the selection and oath-swearing, the operative would be sent to KSM for training and the filming of a martyrdom video, a function KSM supervised as head of al Qaeda's media committee.  

 

As to targets on 9/11, Atta understood Bin Ladin's interest in striking the White House. Atta said he thought this target too difficult, but had tasked Hazmi and Hanjour to evaluate its feasibility and was awaiting their answer. Atta said that those two operatives had rented small aircraft and flown reconnaissance flights near the Pentagon. Atta explained that Hanjour was assigned to attack the Pentagon, Jarrah the Capitol, and that both Atta and Shehhi would hit the World Trade Center. If any pilot could not reach his intended target, he was to crash the plane. If Atta could not strike the World Trade Center, he planned to crash his aircraft directly into the streets of New York.

It found the assistance given to 9/11 hijackers Hazmi and Mihdhar was consistent with a co-ordinated terrorist support operation, rather than a series of chance encounters, and involved individuals with official connections to Saudi Arabia.
