Hard Drinking Neil Mohamed Husani Still in Amman Jordan, Husani Left a Trail of DUI's, Felony convictions, Domestic Violence Charges, Probation Violation and Oh Yeah, He Scammed Sarasota Banks Out of $82.8 Million in Cash !

Hard Drinking Neil Mohamed Husani Still in Amman Jordan, Husani Left a Trail of DUI’s, Felony convictions, Domestic Violence Charges, Probation Violation and Oh Yeah, He Scammed Sarasota Banks Out of $82.8 Million in Cash !

Neil Mohammad Husani, the real estate investor who ran off to Amman, Jordan, after allegedly masterminding one of the largest mortgage fraud schemes in Florida history, also was a frequent customer at Zoria’s restaurant in downtown Sarasota, dropping thousands of dollars each month for high-end meals with associates. “He was here five or six times a week and would stay for hours,” says Arthur Lopes, the owner and co-founder of Zoria’s restaurant in downtown Sarasota. “He did an awful lot of business out of here.”

Husani was flamboyant and presided over the bar area like a sultan. “He was a big tipper. That’s how people on the wait staff remembered him,” Lopes said. “I would say 90 percent of the staff knew him by name and he wouldn’t have to ask for anything. Food and drinks would simply be brought to him because the staff knew what he liked.” Husani often arrived at 3 p.m. and might stay until after 8. When the bar got too crowded, he and his entourage would move outside under the awning. Husani became so much a part of the Zoria’s scene that Lopes hired his girlfriend, Star Allen, to be a hostess.

From information obtained from the public records of the Sarasota County Clerk’s office and the Sarasota Sheriff’s Department it appears that Neil Mohamed Husani’s personal life was fueled with alcohol and violence.

The hard drinking Neil Mohamed Husani was arrested on a DUI charge, Jan 8th, 2004 at 2:37 AM while driving his 1995 black Porsche on Swift Rd in Sarasota, he was already on State of Florida Probation for stealing $14,000 in furniture in Manatee County during 2002. Neil Mohamed Husani was so drunk he had a hard time standing, he had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, his eyes were bloodshot and glazed and he dropped almost everything from his wallet looking for his drivers license, the Sarasota Sheriff’s Department had all of this on video tape. Neil Mohamed Husani should have been violated by his Parole Officer, but he tied up the Sarasota Courts with his DUI case (he pled innocent) until he fled Sarasota for Amman Jordan with $82.8 Million in Cash, the DUI case is still open.

On Jan 20th, 2004, Star Allen, his then girl friend, filed a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against Neil Mohamed Husani citing his serious drinking problem, fits of rage when he was drunk and also citing Neil Mohamed Husani aka Neil Mohamed as a control freak who would fly into a rage when he observed her even talking to male co-workers. The case was voluntarily dismissed on Feb 2nd, 2004.

DOB: 11/20/1970

It turns out that Husani’s business dealings in Southwest Florida had been investigated by the FBI for years. Neil Mohamed Husani was in Amman, Jordan from at least the end of summer 2006. His mother-in-law, Kafaya Zahran, saw Husani entering the Holiday Inn in Amman, Jordan (Arab Bank has a branch near the Hotel) which is her hometown. Husani would not speak to her, so she confronted his brother, Waleed, demanding that Husani give her daughter a divorce. This was never done and the Divorce case was dismissed in Jan 2008 for lack of prosecution, he had filed.

Seven years ago, Neil Husani was so strapped for cash that he wrote bad checks, a crime he pleaded guilty to in circuit court in Manatee in 2002. The next year, 2003, he was placed on two years’ probation after pleading guilty to stealing $14,000 in furniture from a vendor who supplied Husani’s Palmetto furniture store.

Husani started using slightly different names that involved changes in order or spelling in 2001. He would be “Neil Hussani” in one document and “Neal Mohamed” in another. The name changes helped Husani to hide his past, but trouble followed him and his financial woes persisted. In October 2002, Gwendolyn Newbloom sued Husani in circuit court in Hillsborough County, claiming that he was trying to cheat her out of buying an Apollo Beach apartment. Husani told Newbloom he owned the Apollo Beach apartment and there were no liens or encumbrances on it, the suit says. But after she signed the contract to buy the apartment and made a $12,500 deposit, she discovered that Husani did not own it and the actual owner had not kept up to date with mortgage payments.

According to a 44-page indictment, between May 2004 and June 2006, Neil Mohamed Husani defrauded Orion Bank, Mercantile Bank, Bank Atlantic, Coast Bank, Fifth/Third Bank, Wachovia Bank and First State Bank.

How much of the millions in cash that Neil Mohamed Husani ripped off from the Banks in Sarasota Fl is now in the “Arab Bank ” in Amman Jordan supporting terrorism !

Arab Bank PLC, one of the largest financial institutions in the Middle East, will pay a $24 million civil fine for allegedly inadequate controls against money laundering at its New York branch, U.S. regulators announced in 2005.
The “Arab Bank” in Amman Jordan with $32 billion in assets and operations in 30 countries, has been sued in the United States by relatives of bombings in Israel who allege that it supported terrorism by funneling donations to Palestinian suicide bombers and their families. Families of about 40 U.S. citizens killed in attacks in Israel sued Arab Bank of Amman Jordan in federal court in New York last year, accusing it of channeling money to Palestinian terrorist groups and of making insurance payments to beneficiaries of suicide bombers.

The plaintiffs also allege that the Texas-based Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development used Arab Bank’s New York branch to transfer money to Hamas, a Palestinian terrorist organization blamed for dozens of attacks in Israel. The U.S. government has accused the Holy Land Foundation of funneling more than $12 million to Hamas.

Muslim commercial real estate flipper Neil Mohamed Husani, who almost single handedly triggered an economic downturn in Sarasota Fl and jeopardized several Sarasota banks, is now living the high life in Amman Jordan with his scammed Sarasota millions of dollars sitting in the terrorist linked “Arab Bank” !

Investigators are still waiting for Neil Mohamed Husani to be extradited from Amman Jordan (good luck). Neil Mohamed Husani, 38, formerly of Sarasota and owner and principal officer of Capital Force Inc., which bought and sold commercial real estate in Sarasota and Manatee counties.

BREAKING, Cabbie’s Anti-semitic Website www.revolutionmuslim.com Shut Down By Private Investigator Bill Warner

Cabbie’s Anti-semitic Website Shut Down
Posted on 15 October 2009 By Nikhil Kumar K.S.

The anti-semitic website http://revolutionmuslim.com/ , that was run by Yousef Al-Khattab, a New York cab driver, has been shut down. Private investigator Bill Warner told the Ink today that he succeed in convincing the service that hosted the controversial website to discontinue its services for Al-Khattab. Neither the hosting service nor Al-Khattab were available for comment.

Al-Khattab, 40, was formerly a Jew named Joseph Cohen, who grew up and lived amongst the Hassidic communities in Williamsburg. He converted to Islam in 2004(Muslim convert in 1998 as per a Jerusalem Post Nov. 2005 article). According to Warner and other critics, he has used his site to incite violence against Jewish people and has been known to be openly anti-semitic.

Al-Khattab was the subject of an extensive profile by the Ink in March 2009, "Crossing the line? Free Speech or Terror" ....Yousef al-Khattab.  Bill Warner, a Private investigator and cyber vigilante, who says he has helped shut down several jihadist websites across America by reporting them to their Internet service providers and the authorities, says people like Khattab incite others to commit violent acts, rather than doing them on their own. “Whatever problems there are in the Middle East, he brings them to Queens, New York,” he says. “He tries to get people to do things.”

I spoke with NYPD Detective on Sunday 2/15/2009 about Yousef al-Khattab, they have opened two criminal investigations on him, one about the threats against the Jewish School and temple in NYC and second they are also looking at him for the “bombs bombs bombs” cards sent out last July 2008 to Fox News reporter Kelly Vick and others in NYC, see Sunday, July 27, 2008. Yousef Al-Khattab and his wife show up in Israel in 1998, he is still a Jew then, his name then was Yosef Cohen, he and his wife convert to Islam while in the Middle East, see Jerusalem Post Nov. 2005 article link http://www.angelfire.com/ak5/salafi/IsraeliMuslims.htm

VIOLATION OF TERMS OF SERVICE…INCITE OTHERS TO MURDER OR INJURE

A New York bicycle cabbie who last year used his Web site to mock the beheading of journalist Daniel Pearl posted a prayer calling for the murder of Jews and exhorting Muslims to “throw liquid drain cleaner in their faces.” And there’s nothing authorities can do about it. Yousef al-Khattab, who runs www.RevolutionMuslim.com and pedals a pedicab in New York City, insists the words he has posted on his Web site are a prayer, and not a threat — and that his hatred is protected by the First Amendment

A New York bicycle cabbie who last year used his Web site to mock the beheading of journalist Daniel Pearl posted a prayer calling for the murder of Jews and exhorting Muslims to “throw liquid drain cleaner in their faces." And there's nothing authorities can do about it. (you can shut down his site)

Yousef al-Khattab, who runs http://www.revolutionmuslim.com/  and pedals a pedicab in New York City, insists the words he has posted on his Web site are a prayer, and not a threat — and that his hatred is protected by the First Amendment.

"If it was a threat, I'd be in jail," the 41-year-old al-Khattab told Foxnews.com from his home in Queens. "I'm asking my God, that's what it is. Every supporter of Israel is an enemy combatant and the immune system is not anti-Semitic for resisting disease."

Al-Khattab removed the Oct. 7 post a "few days ago" and replaced it with a post about a mosque in Jerusalem.

Ya Allah(oh God) Kill The Jews That Occupy Palestine & Their Supporters

"Please throw liquid drain cleaner in their faces," he wrote. " … burn their flammable sukkos while they sleep … Ya Allah (Oh God) answer my duaa (prayer)." ("Sukkos" refers to the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, during which Jews build and eat their meals in outdoor huts known as "sukkahs," which represent the huts the Jews lived in during their exodus from Egypt.) more from this source....................

An American-born Jew formerly known as Joseph Cohen who converted to Islam after attending an Orthodox rabbinical school — al-Khattab called on Allah to carry out "wrath on the Jewish occupiers of Palestine & their supporters."

The Story of The Teacher & The King Yousef al-Khattab in Queens NY and the author of the RevolutionMuslim.com website has become even more dangerous and needs to be shut down and jailed. Yousef Al-Khattab has a new online magazine for kids.

An excellent picture Yousef! Especially with the sacred Al Aqsa in the background. As you know the sacred Mosque is in danger because of the zionist terror regime. See The Palestinian Information Center for details. Why not add the link to your site?

I also prefer the ak-47 but the ar-17 isnt bad either. Yousef, why did you remove your previous post?

Wa3leikoum Brother in Humanity Leonard,

Hope you and your family are well. You are most welcome to add the link in our forum (we don’t have a link section on the front page) The previous post was removed because it will appear in a new online magazine, that will be out tomorrow insha’Allah. I am sure you will find it on our forum when it is published insha’Allah.

Fine Regards,

Luis Armando Pena Soltren hijacks plane 40 years ago and forced it to land in Cuba, he is a member of Puerto Rican Movement for Liberation (FALN) and links to bombings in NYC along with Bill Ayers, Julie Nichamin and Bernardine Dohrn.

NEW YORK (Oct. 12) - A man accused of using weapons hidden in a diaper bag to terrorize airline passengers while hijacking their plane and diverting it to Cuba in 1968 faces a courthouse arraignment this week after being arrested at an airport. Longtime fugitive Luis Armando Pena Soltren was arrested Sunday after arriving at John F. Kennedy International Airport on a flight from Cuba, federal authorities said. He was wanted for his role in the Nov. 24, 1968, hijacking of a Pan Am flight bound from New York to Puerto Rico, they said. Another man, who was not on the flight but was described in the criminal complaint as a leader of the Puerto Rican Movement for Liberation (or in Spanish, Fuerzas Armadas Liberacion Nacional Puertoriquena FALN), was indicted in the hijacking. He was found not guilty on all charges. more from this source........

The Puerto Rican Solidarity Committee from the point of view of the Puerto Rican National Liberation movement FALN. ...

POLITICAL STATEMENT OF THE PUERTO RICAN SOLIDARITY COMMITTEE,.Fuerzas Armadas Liberacion Nacional Puertoriquena (FALN).

On August 11, 1999, Pres. Bill Clinton commuted the sentences of 16 members of FALN, a violent Puerto Rican nationalist group that set off 120 bombs in the United States, mostly in New York City and Chicago. There were convictions for conspiracy to commit robbery, bomb-making, and sedition, as well as firearms and explosives violations. None of the 16 were convicted of bombings or any crime which injured another person, though they were sentenced with terms ranging from 35 to 105 years in prison for the conviction of conspiracy and sedition.

Congress condemned this action by President Clinton, with votes of 95-2 in the Senate and 311-41 in the House. The U.S. House Committee on Government Reform held an investigation on the matter, but the Justice Department prevented FBI officials from testifying. President Clinton cited executive privilege for his refusal to turn over some documents to Congress related to his decision to offer clemency to members of the FALN terrorist group.

Throughout the late 1970’s and mid-1980’s the Armed Forces of Puerto Rican National Liberation Movement (FALN) or in Spanish, Fuerzas Armadas Liberacion Nacional Puertoriquena) and the Popular Boricua Army (Ejercito Popular Boricua), commonly known as the Macheteros, claimed responsibility for numerous bombings and robberies, causing a reign of terror in both the United States and Puerto Rico. The FALN operated in the continental United States, while the Macheteros were active mostly in Puerto Rico.

United States law enforcement first learned of the existence of the FALN on October 26, 1974, the date the group issued a communiqué taking credit for five bombings in New York. .Ultimately, over the next decade, FALN activities resulted in 72 actual bombings, 40 incendiary attacks, 8 attempted bombings and 10 bomb threats, resulting in 5 deaths, 83 injuries, and over $3 million in property damage.
The capture and conviction of the individual members of the FALN and Macheteros brought an end to the reign of terror in Puerto Rico and the United States. Although a few random assaults may have occurred, mostly in Puerto Rico, the continual assaults on New York, Chicago, and law enforcement and Naval officers in Puerto Rico virtually came to a halt.

In the fall of 1969, Mark Rudd and Jeff Jones of the Columbia Univ Chapter of SDS (Weatherman members) met regularly with Communist Cuban Intelligence Personal at the Cuban Mission to the U.N. 6 East 67th Street at Fifth Ave Manhattan NY. Funds were dispensed for demonstrations and most probably explosives and explosives making information (see Weatherman Greenwich Village explosion at a West 11th Street apartment belonging to the father of the Weatherman Cathlyn Wilkerson blew up on March 6, 1970, ). In June of 1969 Bernardine Dohrn met with Communist Cuban Intelligence officer Jose Viera at the Cuban Mission to the U.N. at East 67th Street New York NY, the following month (July) Dohrn led a SDS contingent to a meeting in Havana with Communist representatives from Cuba and North Vietnam. In the fall of 1969 the SDS dissolved and Bernardine Dohrn joined forces with Bill Ayers to start the Weathermen.

Julie Nichamin, one of the old SDS and Weatherman leaders, a repeat "visitor" to Cuba, and a leader of the Prairie Fire Organizing Committee, serves as a coordinator for the Puerto Rican Solidarity- Committee in 1975. The Puerto Rican Solidarity Committee is the propaganda arm of the Puerto Rican Socialist Party aka Puerto Rican National Liberation movement (FALN) and defends terrorist and other violent activities on behalf of Puerto Rican independence.

In 1974 the Weather Underground made a fraudulent intellectual case for its terrorist campaign in a subversive book, Prairie Fire: The Politics of Revolutions. It outlined three justifications for its bombings: those taken “to retaliate for the most savage criminal attacks against Black and Third World people, especially by the police apparatus … to disrupt and agitate against U.S. aggression and terror against Vietnam and the Third World … [and] to expose and focus attention against the power and institutions which most cruelly oppress, exploit and delude the people.” The introduction, signed by Bill Ayers, said the book was written for “communist-minded people, independent organizers and anti-imperialists … to all sister and brothers who are engaged in armed struggle against the enemy.”

The bombing rationale found in Prairie Fire as well as other aspects of the book — it was released on the fifteenth anniversary of the communist revolution in Cuba and its title comes from a quote by Chairman Mao: “A single spark can start a prairie fire” — remind us that the Weather Underground was a domestic component of an international terrorist network that spanned several decades, from the 1960s to the 1990s. This network included the Vietcong, Cuban terrorists, the Palestinian Liberation Organization, the Red Brigades, the Baider-Meinhof Gang, the Irish Republican Army, ETA in Spain and, closer to home, the Puerto Rican FALN.

Dan Berger delineates the link between all of these organizations. The Weather Underground, he writes, emulated “Third World revolutionaries — Cuba and Vietnam were especially the models — by going underground and taking armed actions … Weather viewed the underground as a way to express solidarity with the Third World, within and outside the United States.”

As such, the Weather Underground was part of an international movement that provided a template for radical Islamic terrorism. Assassinating American diplomats in Africa, targeting buildings in New York, bombing the Pentagon, targeting the U.S. Capitol, attacking world financial centers – the calling cards of Al Qaeda – were all first carried out by the Weather Underground Organization and other international terrorist groups, including the PLO and FALN.

Under the skin of English Defence League (EDL), Neo-Nazi Right Wing Group, See BBC News Video.

BBC News Oct. 12, 2009...So, who are the English Defence League (EDL)? Part of the problem with answering that question is they do not quite know themselves. The organisation is about seven months old and only started gathering any kind of momentum after 10 Muslim extremists staged an anti-war demo at a Royal Anglian Regiment parade in Luton in March this year.

The big divisions are in Luton, Birmingham, Bristol and Cardiff. They are a rag tag group of about 400 self-styled English patriots, loosely affiliated with football hooligan firms. They have a female division and a youth division. The leader of the youth division is Joel, an 18-year-old who lives with his grandparents. His father is Irish, his mother Afro-Caribbean and Joel grew up in multi-cultural Harrow, North London.

Now he organises the youth division and sells EDL merchandise - adapted hoodies with a mask you can pull down over your face for demonstrations.

Prof Matthew Goodwin is an expert on far right groups and advises the Home Office. According to him the group is at a crossroads. Four hundred people that can be quickly mobilised online and will travel to demonstrations is seen as very useful resource. Within the organisation a debate is under way about whether it should stay as a street based protest movement or something more organised and political. The direction EDL takes next largely depends on who decides to try to hijack it, more from this source..........

Todd Schnitt (MJ Kelli) vs. Bubba The Love Sponge (Todd Clem) Law Suit Rages On In Tampa, Literally, Megan Vincent-MJ Kelli Road Rage Incident, Did Bubba Clem Incite ?

Todd Schnitt (MJ Kelli) vs. Bubba The Love Sponge (Todd Clem) Law Suit Rages On In Tampa, Literally, Megan Vincent-MJ Kelli Road Rage Incident, Did Bubba Clem Incite ?

There are no records of a Megan Vincent arrested in Hillsborough County as the Megan Vincent-MJ Kelli Road Rage incident appears to have happened in the Tampa area and the woman accused of the road rage, Megan Vincent, lives in Brandon, both in Hillsborough County, see Hillsborough County Sheriff's arrest inquiry link for any Megan Vincent, click here. The name Megan-Vincent might possibly be a combination of the woman and her husbands first names as used on the Bubba the Love Sponge Show. It appears at this point the Hillsborough County Sheriff is investigating the Megan Vincent-MJ Road Rage incident as they are looking for any witness's.

It appears that the constant haranguing of MJ Kelli by Todd Clem aka Bubba the Love Sponge on his number #1 rated Tampa Fl radio show has influenced some of Bubba's listeners to take action, physical action, against MJ Kelli aka Todd Schnitt, could Todd Clem aka Bubba the Love Sponge be arrested for inciting the Megan Vincent-MJ Road Rage incident ?

In the original law suit brought by Todd Schnitt (MJ Kelli) vs. Bubba The Love Sponge (Todd Clem) one of the most important claims made is that Bubba The Love Sponge (Todd Clem) incited others to Injure MJ Kelli;

"The actionable statements at issue were maliciously broadcast by Defendant (Bubba The Love Sponge aka Todd Clem) as part of numerous morning drive radio shows for the sole purpose of systematically and intentionally exacting "Bubba Clem's revenge", ridiculing, casting in a false light, Injuring and/or inciting others to Injure, ridicule, cast in a false light or harm the Plaintiff's (Todd Schnitt aka MJ Kelli & Michelle Schnitt) both professionally and in their personal, private lives" It appears that the Megan Vincent-MJ Kelli Road Rage incident falls directly into this catagory.

The lawsuit says Clem has referred to Schnitt on air as a snitch and called his wife a whore. In an email read by Clem on his show, a listener said that Schnitt should be "thrown into a burlap sack and tossed into the river" and someone should "drive that little midget to drink a bottle of bleach," the lawsuit states.

It also alleges that Clem told his listeners, known as "Bubba's Army," to mouth off at Schnitt during the Gasparilla Day Parade. "I need all you sick b------- and drunken drunkards, if you will, at the Gasparilla Day Parade ... bring your loud mouths and grease that midget. Grease 'em," the lawsuit says. The word "grease," the lawsuit explains, can be interpreted to mean "whack or eliminate someone, to bump someone off." more from this source...................

Monday 10/12/09 Megan Vincent-MJ Road Rage Incident.....Kyle in St. Lewis said two local guys took MJ off of his pedestal, Bubba wonders how did the guy find out, Kyle said they talked about it on the air, Manson as MJ (MJ Kelli Tampa Radio personality) said he was filing a lawsuit against the station. Bubba said MJ is desperate, the ratings came back on Thursday, he’s in seventh place. Bubba thinks he talked about MJ getting a woman arrested on Friday (Road Rage Incident), Manson as MJ said it was felony bird flipping. Bubba asked Brent if he got an update about that, Brent said he didn’t get a response.

Bubba thinks he should replay the clip in question, from September 21, 2009, where Megan called up to say she and her husband flipped MJ off. Bubba said someone needs to flush MJ out, he thinks those words are part of his lawsuit against Bubba, we then heard the clip (Megan Vincent) An excerpt from that day’s recap is below;

Megan in Brandon said she had a story about MJ, she said he told the cops she tried to run him off the road (Road Rage). She said her and her Husband taunted MJ, Manson as MJ said “Star fhp”. A few days later, some cops showed up at Megan’s friend’s house, as Megan was driving her friend’s car. Mj claimed she threw a cup and some ice at him, he also claimed the car was full of people. Bubba asked her if the cop gave some editorial comments, Megan said she’s probably not the first person the cops have had to call about MJ. Bubba thinks MJ shouldn’t be a public figure if he can’t take it, Bubba said he’s had people come up to him at CD signings and have flipped him off, he doesn’t call the cops on them. Brent said it’s a felony to give cops false information, Megan said MJ totally lied.”

Bubba came back and took a call from a woman who said she loves to listen to the show, she asked Bubba to continue to be honest. Bubba asked Brent what has gone down, Brent said the state is looking into witnesses (MJ Road Rage incident), Bubba said this just screams of the power MJ and his wife have, Brent agrees, he said he’s looking into it via the Freedom of information act. Bubba got distracted by Ned falling over, Ned apologized for doing that. Bubba wonders if various people know this is happening, Brent said no. Bubba wonders how can anyone have this much power, Manson as MJ said that there’s a new Sharif in town, he laid out some rules for his power, Bubba thinks Michelle (MJ Kelli's wife) had a lot to do with them getting arrested for the hog trial.

Bubba The Love Sponge aka Todd Clem was arrested for "CRUELTY TO ANIMALS F3", third degree felony on 3/29/2001 by the Hillsborough County Sheriff, see link http://www.hcso.tampa.fl.us/pub/default.asp?/Online/qdisp/bn=01017382 .

In 2001, Clem was arrested, along with two hunters and executive producer Brent Hatley and prosecuted by Hillsborough County State Attorney Mark Ober on charges of animal cruelty after the hunters slaughtered a pig in an on-air event called "Bubba's Road Kill Barbeque." Clem and the others were acquitted by a six person jury in 52 minutes at trial in 2002.

The Federal Communications Commission issued a Notice of Apparent Liability (a precursor to a fine) of $755,000 against four stations owned by Clear Channel Communications (including its parent station, WXTB) on January 27, 2004 for objectionable segments of "Bubba the Love Sponge" aired on its stations in five Florida cities: Callahan, Clearwater, Port Charlotte and West Palm Beach, and Jacksonville. The fine consisted of the maximum of $27,500 for each of 26 airings of a segment plus $40,000 for record-keeping violations.

The segments included graphic discussions about sex and drugs and according to the FCC were "designed to pander to, titillate and shock listeners". One segment featured the cartoon characters Alvin the chipmunk, George Jetson and Scooby Doo discussing sexual activities.

Clear Channel Communications discontinued Bubba's show on February 23, 2004 and two days later, Clear Channel CEO Maceo Butler testified in front of Congress, stating that the "Bubba the Love Sponge" show would no longer be broadcast on Clear Channel.

The "Crescent Club" Siesta Key Fl A Good Place To Hang For Private Investigator Travis McGee.

The "Crescent Club" Siesta Key Fl A Good Place To Hang For Private Investigator Travis McGee.

When asked to name the quintessential Sarasota bar, my mind first goes toward some fun, informal place like the Salty Dog on City Island, which overlooks New Pass and has great cheeseburgers and -- yes -- allows dogs. Or the Azures Tides Beach Bar on Lido (now taken over by the Ritz Beach club), which is right on the sand and is perfect for a drink at sunset. But then someone says, "What about the Crescent Club?" and I know right away we have the winner, hands down.

Which is strange, because as bars go, the Crescent Club has virtually no amenities (other than cold beer and pretty bar maids). It's out toward the south end of Siesta Key, right near the Stickney Point Bridge, and though it's across the street from the beach, you'd never know it inside. It's windowless and they don't serve food, not even happy-hour snacks. There is no entertainment, not even on weekends. Yes, there is a jukebox and a lone video game (something to do with golf and new flat screen TV's for sports), but it is clear that two activities are uppermost here -- drinking and talking.

The Crescent Club is the prototype of those bars so crucial to Florida crime fiction, both written and cinematic. It's the place the lovers meet to plot the rich husband's murder. It's the place where the tourist from Michigan meets the handsome stranger who offers to take him or her out on his boat. It's the spot where two real estate developers plan the sort of deal that can only be put together in a bar like this. Now, not for a second am I implying that anything like this actually happens in the Crescent Club. I'm just saying it looks like it might.

Nobody understood a place like the Crescent Club better than famed mystery writer John D. MacDonald; and, indeed, he used some version of it over and over again. It appears most prominently in his great Sarasota novel "Condominium".

(John D. MacDonald American fiction writer, graduated from Syracuse (New York) University (B.S.,) and Harvard (M.B.A.), he served in World War II in the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the forerunner of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) his mystery and science-fiction works were published in more than 70 books. He is best remembered for his series of 21 crime novels featuring private investigator Travis McGee.)

Here's his description of the Crescent Club: "Inside the ceiling was hung with nets, with glass and cork floats. Harpoons were chained to the walls. The low-power wall sconces held orange bulbs with orange shades. Overhead prisms shone puddles of white light down on the black Formica bar. The front edge of the bar and the barstools were upholstered in red Naugahyde, spotted with cigarette burns and old stains."

With just a few minor changes, MacDonald's description still fits. The nets have been replaced with banners from various colleges, but they still hang from the ceiling. During the day two shafts of lights stream in from the open doors -- to me that's always been the mark of a real, old Florida place: doors open with the air-conditioning on -- and there's a drive-up window to purchase liquor, another old-timely touch. Even the waitress is right out of MacDonald -- an aging beach bunny still tanned and golden and with a smile that would melt Travis McGee's heart, (nowadays we have Kendra and Bethany).

Like every bar, the Crescent Club has its regulars, some of whom are waiting there every morning when it opens at 10. Many are seasonal regulars, for the CC is located in that part of Siesta Key where all the little motels are. You may be a little disappointed with the regulars, for they are nothing showy.

You won't see colorful Key West-style barflies or bikers playing pool. The people are pretty ordinary-looking. But then, isn't that Sarasota for you -- mild-mannered on the outside, seething with passion on the inside?

The Crescent Club is the place where everyone in town meets sooner or later. Some are on an important errand. Some are in the throes of a new and reckless love affair. And some are entering into a scheme that promises to turn into an adventure. Or not.

My favorite at the Crescent Club are the single, middle-aged men sitting at the bar alone, nursing their drinks and lost in thought. What are they grappling with? What are they thinking about? Are they plotting revenge? Fighting off despair? Trying to make a decision? Nobody understood better than MacDonald the power of this black cube set on blinding white sand. I suppose there are bars like the Crescent Club the world over. But thanks to MacDonald, we have the archetype only in Sarasota.

FRIDAY 10/09/09....."Bubba asked for people to leave MJ (MJ Kelli Tampa Radio personality) alone, he said MJ will just tell on you, Brent suggested you don’t even look at him, Manson said it really pisses him off. Bubba said Megan Vincent can’t call into the show anymore, as she called into say she bugged MJ on the road; MJ filmed her (on his cell phone camera) and her husband screwing with him. They have since been called to court for a third degree felony. Bubba thinks Michelle, MJ’s wife, got them charged with the hog situation. Bubba said MJ marches to a different drum. Bubba said someone has to stop this madness, Bubba said he’s over it. Bubba called MJ a pussy; they then ended the show a few seconds later."

How was Megan Vincent and her husband able to identify Todd Schnitt aka MJ Kelli as he drove his BMW with tinted windows (how does she know his vehicle), had she and her husband been stalking Todd Schnitt aka MJ Kelli?
