DEPARTED: Osama bin Laden Had Expensive SUV's And Cars At His Hideout Compound, The Cars of Al-Qaeda See Photos.

ABBOTTABAD, Pakistan — When a woman involved in a polio vaccine drive turned up at Osama bin Laden's hideaway, she remarked to the men behind the high walls about the expensive SUVs parked inside.  Locals said large Toyota Land Cruisers and other expensive cars were seen driving into the compound, which is in a regular middle-class neighbourhood.

Old habits hard to change, the Toyota Land Cruiser has been Osama bin Laden's choice of vehicle for over 27 years, see passage from the book "THE OSAMA BIN LADEN I KNOW",  "I still remember Osama bin Laden driving a Land Cruiser, desert color, in 1984 at a camp near Jeddah Saudia Arabia".

Neighbors said they knew little about those inside in the compound but bin Laden apparently depended on two men who would routinely emerge to run errands or to a neighborhood gathering, such as a funeral. There were conflicting details about the men's identities. Several people said they were known as Tariq and Arshad Khan and had identified themselves as cousins from elsewhere in northwestern Pakistan. Others gave different names and believed they were brothers.

Officials said that about 22 people were living in the compound in a state of high paranoia. Bin Laden's crew burned their trash, and there was no phone or Internet connection in the house.  Locals reported seeing large SUVs and other expensive cars coming in and out of the compound from time to time.

Salman Riaz, a film actor, said that he and a crew tried to shoot some film near the house about five months ago, but guards told them to go away. "Told me that this is (forbidden in Islam)," Riaz said.

The raid that wreaked vengeance on Osama Bin Laden also netted a treasure trove of digital data that may contain Al Qaeda's top secrets - including plans for pending attacks.

During their 40 minutes inside Bin Laden's booby-trapped compound Sunday, U.S. commandos grabbed five computers, 10 hard drives and at least 100 other information storage devices, including thumb drives, DVDs and CD-ROMs, according to a government source. One official called it "the mother lode."

"We're moving with great dispatch to mine that for whatever insights it gives us so that we can continue to destroy Al Qaeda," White House counterterror chief John Brennan said.
