Arrests of Damien Young and Roshid Milledge
Charges were filed today in United States District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, against defendants Damien Young and Roshid Milledge. Young, 29 years of age from Philadelphia, and Milledge, 38 years of age from Philadelphia, have been charged with violating Title 49, United States Code, Section 46505(b)(1) and Title 18, United States Code, Section 2, in connection with Young's boarding of U.S. Airways Flight Number 1195 earlier today from Philadelphia destined for Phoenix, Arizona with a concealed dangerous weapon in his carry-on baggage. Milledge, a U.S. Airways employee, aided and abetted Young's possession and concealment of the dangerous weapon on board the aircraft. The weapon is described as a Smith and Wesson 9-millimeter semi-automatic handgun, which was unloaded.
"This investigation represents an isolated incident (REALLY ???), involving only these two individuals," noted Special in Charge Fedarcyk. "As noted in the affidavit, another passenger on the flight observed behavior by the two defendants in the gate area that was deemed suspicious. That person alerted U.S. Airways security personnel who, along with Philadelphia Police Department Officers assigned to the airport, took action to return the airplane to the gate and ensure the safety of the flight and its passengers. These circumstances serve to underscore the importance of vigilance on the part of all Americans to help keep our society and our citizens safe."
