3 Violent Newtown '2nd Line' Gang Members Out of Prison in August 2017 They Had Robbed Drug Dealers With Large Amounts of Cash in Sarasota.

3 Violent Newtown '2nd Line' Gang Members were Out of Prison by August 2017 They Had Robbed Drug Dealers With Large Amounts of Cash in Sarasota. Is there a reincarnation of the Second Line (2nd Line) Gang in the Newtown section of Sarasota, specifically in the 22nd Street vicinity? Second Line (2nd Line) Bad Boys Davon "ARAB" Gordon, Bryson Kearney and Lee "Lil Lee" Claridy were all out of State Prison by August of 2017, Lee "Lil Lee" Claridy was back living in Newtown on 24th Street but screwed up in April 2019 and is back in the Sarasota County jail doing eight months for violation of probation, 'fleeing and eluding the police'.
HERALD TRIBUNE Wrote Back on September 10th, 2010: The Second Line members charged with racketeering were: DeAndre "CUTTHROAT" Tunstall murder case (IN PRISON) John “Chico” Stephens (IN PRISON) serving a prison sentence for murder, brothers Torrey Elrdridge (IN PRISON) and Xavier Eldridge (IN PRISON) Davon "ARAB" Gordon (OUT OF PRISON 2013) and Gary Wilder (IN PRISON), Bryson Kearney (OUT OF PRISON 7/07/2017) at 2420 Mango Ave Newtown, and Lee "Lil Lee" Claridy (OUT OF PRISON 8/07/2017) at 1553 24th Street Newtown, currently in Sarasota county jail as of April 2019.

Second Line Gang members killed six people, police say, doubling the city’s murder rate in one eight-month period. They shot and killed a grocery clerk over a $300 gold chain. They shot and killed a dental assistant who happened to drive by a robbery. And in the middle of the day in a crowded parking lot, they shot and killed a U.S. Marine reservist outside a convenience store. Tunstall, 29, is in jail on a murder charge. When someone is shot in Newtown, no one waits for the news to find out what happened. Crowds form at the crime scene tape and cell phones chirp all over the neighborhood. If a man is shot one night in a fight that started over a few hundred dollars, as happened in June, it is a safe bet that people walking down MLK the next morning will know about it.

But Second Line committed crimes that got Newtown residents to cooperate with police and sign their names on witness statements. The gang started as a group of teenagers trying to impress older gangs like the Two-Four Boys, which took its name from its 24th street stomping grounds. Two-Four was known for selling crack cocaine, but not for violence. Second Line lifted its name from the lyrics of New Orleans rapper Juvenile. “Second line” is a parade term for the partiers who follow a band as it passes down the street, and the rapper used it as a name for his followers. "Now, if ya at dat second line dem boys got a gun" "You better run for it, run for it, run". Newtown 'Second Line' Gang Colors are Red & Black. One goof even went so far as to wear Red & Black 'Second Line' gang colors to testify at the Shawn Tyson murder trial on March 26, 2012 in open court, see
The 2nd Line group adopted colors: Red & Black, had red bandanas to cover their face during robberies. A few got “Second Line” tattoos, and all of them set out to impress the older, more established gangs. Instead of selling drugs, Second Line stole money. The gang was linked to four home invasion robberies in the summer of 2006 and moved on to robbing drug dealers who carry large amounts of cash. They spent the loot at the mall, wearing their colors Red & Black as they shopped for the latest Nike sneakers.

Some of the older members hung out in topless bars and dated strippers. A few sold crack cocaine, but none of them were regular users. They stuck with smoking marijuana and taking Ecstasy. On the street, Second Line member Davon Gordon says people would do an about-face and walk away when they saw the gang coming. “We were it,” says Davon Gordon, a wiry 32-year-old with braided hair and tattooed arms. “Dudes were afraid of us and girls wanted to be with us. Second Line was the thing.” As they grew in stature, they grew in numbers. There were only a dozen or so members but police documented more than 50 other people who hung out with Second Line.
Back in 2011, SARASOTA HERLD TRIBUNE WROTE on May 27th, 2011..SARASOTA COUNTY - Prosecutors investigating the fatal shooting of two British tourists more than a month ago suggested Friday they were on the verge of new breaks in the case. To justify keeping public records in the case sealed, they told a judge they need two more weeks to track down another person and to gather "crucial pieces" of forensic evidence. Details about the evidence and about the person — described as "still at large" — remain secret. Prosecutors said the 2nd person was involved or present at the time of the murders (Steven R. Phelps).

SARASOTA HERALD TRIBUNE: At trial Murder defendant Shawn Tyson bragged about opening fire on two British tourists after he tried to rob them, a friend said that Tyson told her and another friend that he shot the men — James Cooper, 25, and James Kouzaris, 24 — when they told him they had no money. The two drunken Britons were shot on April 16, 2011 as they staggered through the Newtown public housing complex, 'the Courts'. Newtown thug Shawn Tyson idolized 2nd Line gang leader DeAndre Tunstall. Now it has emerged that the tattoo emblazoned on his chest 'SAVAGE' links him to the feared "enforcer" of the Second Line gang, DeAndre Tunstall, responsible for a string of robberies and murders in the Newtown district that includes The Courts. Deandre Tunsstal also has the tattoo 'SAVAGE' and he also has the tattoo YOUNG THUG CUT 2 SKULLS, which appears to refer to Shawn Tyson killing the two British tourists.
Teen killer Shawn Tyson's gang back in 2011 was Steven R. Phelps Jr, Diandrew L. Clarkson, Shawn D. Whitfield, Steven Fields and Joshua J. Bane that terrorized Newtown. Florida Statutes 874.03 says a criminal street gang is a formal or informal ongoing organization, association, or group of three or more persons who have: A common name or common identifying signs, colors, or symbols. Members or associates who individually or collectedly, engaged in or have engaged in a pattern of youth and street gang activity such as fighting, vandalism, murder, and drug sales.
Court records from the Tyson case name Steven L. Fields, 27, as possibly being the accomplice. Fields has family in Newtown and has spent most of his teen years behind bars. He was convicted of robbery and aggravated assault when he was 14. When tourists James Cooper and James Kouzaris were murdered, Fields was living with his mother in Tampa. You can search a known gang member with the Florida Department of Corrections website to get a better idea of the specific gang tattoos that occur in your area. Steven L. Fields is currently in prison looking at June 2019 to get out.
SARASOTA HERALD TRIBUNE May 15, 2013, Shawn D. Whitfield Jr was part of teen killer Shawn Tyson's gang back in 2011 along with Diandrew L. Clarkson, Steven Fields, Steven R. Phelps Jr and Joshua J. Bane that terrorized Newtown. Three teenagers were arrested as part of an operation targeting high-crime areas in north Sarasota, says the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office says the teenagers, Shawn Whitfield, 19, Tyler Radkey, 19, and a 17-year-old, are charged with 28 car burglaries, two vehicle thefts and fraudulent use of a credit card. Sheriff Tom Knight said the mission of the operation was to show that crime is not tolerated in the area. The Sheriff’s Office also arrested fifty other people on various charges, touting the use of data analysis to show “hot spots” for crime in the community. Shawn D. Whitfield Jr was released from prison on 7/29/2017, his listed residence upon release was 1682 22nd Street in the Newtown section of Sarasota Fl, just a few doors up from where Travis Combs was murdered on 8/28/2017 in the 1600 block of 22nd Street, "just sayin".
Back in March 2011.....Steven R. Phelps Jr and Curtis Campbell were arrested for an armed robbery on Leon Ave in Newtown in 2011. On March 18th 2011, two robbers put a gun to the head of a man working on an air conditioning unit in the 2400 block of Leon Avenue and demanded his money, with Curtis Campbell shouting “give it up”, they knew he had $950 in cash in his pockets. Sarasota Police arrested Steven Phelps Jr, 17, and Curtis Campbell, 18, for armed robbery. Steven R. Phelps Jr was part of teen killer Shawn Tyson's gang back in 2011 along with Diandrew L. Clarkson, Shawn D. Whitfield, Steven Fields and Joshua J. Bane that terrorized Newtown. Steven R. Phelps is in prison on attempted murder conviction.
On January 5th, 2018, Curtis Campbell, DOB 2/06/1993, address 1657 22nd Street Newtown Fl was back in jail again, DRUGS-POSSESS CONTROL SUB W/O PRESCRIPTION (METH), COCAINE-POSSESS: POSSESS COCAINE, SMUGGLE CONTRABAND: INTRODUCE INTO DETENTION FACILITY. On January 5th, 2018, it appears that a man by the name of Wheelock Minns-White was driving a stolen silver Nissan 4 door sedan with Fl tags on N Washington Blvd in Sarasota, Curtis Campbell was a passenger, he had drugs on him.

Curtis Campbell aka Tank Dawg DOB 2/06/1993 and Wheelock Minns-White DOB 10/07/1992 are Newtown thugs with violent criminal histories in Sarasota Fl that includes armed robbery, felon carrying concealed weapon and multiple felony drug charges and convictions. Wheelock Minns-White did time in state of Florida prison for sale of cocaine, Curtis A. Campbell is currently on Felony probation on a drug conviction. I would not put anything past these two Newtown thugs Curtis Campbell and Wheelock Minns-White who appear to be close pals, partners in crime.
Travis Combs was Murdered on 22nd St in Newtwon one of the Killers Took his Car to Manatee County and Burned it, apparently the Same Guys Kidnap & Murder Jabez Spann a Week Later and Leave his Body by Side of the Road inManatee County, Clues? August 28, 2017, Apparently 3 guys were involved in the murder of Travis Combs on 22nd Street in Newtown Fl, one of the killers took his car to Manatee County and set it on fire to destroy any evidence, fingerprints, DNA etc..
Apparently the same 3 guys kidnapped and murdered Jabez Spann from Newtown on or about September 4th, 2017 because he saw them shoot and kill Travis Combs on August 28, 2017 who had been selling marijuana out of his car in the 1600 block of 22nd Street (he had cash on him). Body of Jabez was found in Manatee County about 1 1/2 years later, February 16, 2019, by side of the road. Sooo which of the 3 guys has connections in Manatee County? Apparently the 3 killers of Travis Combs were smart enough to steal and burn up his car far from the crime scene on 22nd Street to hide any connection to them, fingerprints, DNA etc, as they are all most likely in the system. Did the SPD find the bullet casing in the vacant lot where Travis Combs was shot, (once in the chest), what caliber is the bullet casing? So where did they kill Jabez Spann, not near his house and then transport the body to Palmetto, not shot in their car for fear of DNA evidence, was Jabez shot out in the open on the side of road on Canal Rd in Palmetto execution style? How many bullets were fired, did they shoot him in the head, what caliber was the bullet, were bullet casings found on the side of road on Canal Rd in Palmetto?
A memorial marks the area where Jabez Spann’s skeletal remains were found in Manatee County. He disappeared on Labor Day 18 months ago. Teresa Richardson says she knows why he died. “He witnessed a murder,” she said. The murder she refers to is her nephew Travis Combs. His body was found in the lot next to her home right outside her bedroom window one week before Jabez disappeared. “When he walked here to go to his grandmother’s house, he witnessed the murder that took place here," Teresa Richardson says. "He said, 'Oh my God, y’all shot that man.' That’s exactly what he said. He started talking. Because he talked that’s what cost him his life. "Let’s be real: Who do you think did this to Jabez Spann? The same person who did it to Travis Combs his aunt Teresa Richardson said.”
A witness, Reginald Parker, told police Spann saw Combs’ murder but later retracted his statement. Parker is currently in prison on unrelated charges. Sarasota police say they do not know if Spann’s death is related to the Combs case, but they have been looking into it. Richardson believes security cameras a block away captured her nephew’s killer and says she saw someone drive off with his car soon after the shooting. “I asked the second day after his murder to pull the cameras at the end of Palmadelia to solve his murder," she said, but "they told me the cameras didn’t work.” Sarasota’s Housing Authority Director William Russell says he believes the cameras were working at the time but network issues may have prevented them from seeing the recorded footage.
I ran into this Curtis Campbell aka 'Tank Dawg' dude when I had my PI office on Desoto Rd Sarasota in early 2016. In January 2016 I was sharing office space with another private investigator who also happened to be a bail bondsman and operated a Concealed Weapon Permit training school along with classes for obtaining a Florida Security Officers license, he also had a Federal Firearms License to sell handguns and long guns. One day Curtis Campbell Jr and his pal with the long dreadlocks came in the store to obtain Concealed Weapon Permits, that is they would get their photos on a license that day and walk out with a CWP, same day service. The girl at the counter who waited on them explained they had to take the 8 hour CWP class first, then pass a test at the gun range, get their CWP certificate and apply to the State of Florida Division of License along with a current fingerprint card taken at the Sheriff's office and be able to pass a FDLE criminal background check (I doubt they could) and pay all applicable fees. At the time the CWP process would normally take about 6 to 8 weeks turnaround time, when told this Curtis Campbell Jr, said "fuck no we ain't doing any of that shit, we want out licenses today" and he was not kidding.
I was in my office and came out to the counter area by the front door when I heard the commotion. At this point Curtis said to the girl at the counter, "we want licenses today so that my pal can carry his gun legal", at that point his pal in the long dreadlocks pulled a large caliber black semi automatic pistol from out under the front of his basketball shorts, he had a crotch pocket holster for his .40 caliber firearm. The dreadlocks dude had the pistol fully exposed and pointed in the downward ready position towards the floor in his right hand in my general direction, there are signs all over the entrance to the office for students to not bring in any firearms.

I viewed this confrontation with Curtis Campbell Jr and his dreadlocks pal and the exposed firearm as a threat. No way the dreadlocks guy had a concealed weapons permit. Curtis Campbell Jr. continued to berate the girl at the counter and the owner came out from the classroom and told Campbell and his pal to leave the building, the dreadlocks dude had put the firearm away and both walked to the front door with Curtis Campbell getting louder and louder with his threats. As he left the office by the front door Curtis Campbell Jr turned and yelled back in that "y'all know who we are, you better have out licenses ready when I come back at 5 pm", he never did, he was banned from the office. I asked the girl at the counter as to who were those two mooks who just left after flashing a gun, she said, "oh that's just Curtis and Treshaun".
Charles Bronson is a Vigilante in the Cult Movie 'Death Wish'. The 'Death Wish" movie depicts the frustration of relatives of murdered victims of street crime to find the culprits and the inability of the police to catch the perps. I can relate to this movie with all the violence spewing out of Newtown in North Sarasota Fl and the reluctance of any witness to any crime to come forward and name names! No Snitchin just empowers these thugs. I do not advocate vigilante's like Charles Bronson in the Cult Movie 'Death Wish' or Bernhard Goetz, a man who made headlines in 1984 when he defended himself against four muggers in a subway car in New York City.
