Unsolved Murder of Karen Swift Her Car Found on Millsfield Hgwy Going in Wrong Direction From Her House on Willie Johnson Rd Dyersburg Tn. Karen Swift apparently left her home at 65 Willie Johnson Rd Dyersburg Tn around 5:00 am on October 30th, 2011 heading out to finish a cleaning job for Mary Claire Hopper at a house on Walnut Street in Trimble TN. Karen Swift could have turned left of right on Millsfield Hgwy off of Harness Rd when she got the flat tire, but she would have been on the opposite side of the road (west side) from where her car was found (east side). There were no signs of foul play, no drag marks in the dirt, no blood on the car or on the ground around the car and yet her clothes were found in the brush to the right of the car. No crime scene at her car or at her home, Karen Swift had been stripped almost naked and beaten to death at another location from where her car was found and away from her home.DYERSBURG, Tenn. — Seven years after she disappeared, a Mid-South mother's cause of death has finally been released. A autopsy report obtained by internet reporter Burton Staggs said Karen Swift, a mother of four and fitness instructor, was killed by blunt force trauma to the head in October 2011. The report obtained by Burton Staggs noted that Swift was partially clothed and had multiple bone fractures. The report also stated Karen Swift was found in vines near Bledsoe Cemetery wearing nothing but black underwear that were pulled halfway down her thighs. Swift's body was too decomposed to determine if she was sexually assaulted. A pair of jeans and a grey zip-up top were found by the side of the road close to where Mrs Johnson Swift's car was abandoned, a mile from her home in Dyersburg, Tennessee. 'Sounds like Karen Swift was beaten to death with a baseball bat and more than likely she was raped'. Karen Swift sure as hell was not killed in the Swift home or near her car, there would have been blood everywhere, ceiling to floor, multiple search warrants by cops found nothing at the home. Baseball bat assault injuries. ... Multisystem trauma was documented, with craniocerebral injury being the most frequent and the most frequent cause of death. Of the victims struck on the head, 26% sustained an intracranial hemorrhage.
Karen Swift's car was found on Millsfield Hgwy at about 5:30 am on October 30th, 2011 it was found on the right side of the road heading north, below the intersection with Harness Rd. This is somewhat troubling as if Karen Swift was heading out to finish her cleaning job from her house she would have gone east on Willie Johnson Rd that connects to Harness Rd and then to the intersection with Millsfield Hgwy, at this point she would have turned either left onto Millsfield or right onto Millsfield when her tire when flat, she would be on the west side of Millsfield Rd not on the east side where her car was found, staged crime scene.
Mary Claire Hopper, director of Habitat for Humanity in Northwest Tennessee, knew Swift from the YMCA of Dyer County where they both worked out. Hopper is also an aerobics instructor at the YMCA, as was Karen Swift. Swift had begun teaching an aerobics class called Silver Sneakers, which is a fitness program for older adults. The two were working out on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011 when Swift said she was looking for some cleaning jobs. It just so happened that Hopper had a Habitat for Humanity house on Walnut Street in Trimble that was in bad need of a cleaning.
