Private Detective Bill Warner in Sarasota Fl utilizes “crowd-sourced investigations” to generate leads and has done so for over 12 years

Private Detective Bill Warner in Sarasota Fl utilizes “crowd-sourced investigations” to generate leads and has done so for over 12 years. The term crowdsourcing has been with us for a few years and put simply it means engaging with the masses in order to get whatever it is you need. It was born out of the digital age and some police forces around the world have been quick to embrace it as a method to aid in their criminal investigations. Today, most law enforcement agencies don’t have a good way to crowdsource information.
For example, after the Boston bombing, citizens sent in over 13,000 photos and videos which crashed the Boston Police department’s email server. In the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombing on 15th April 2013, law enforcement put out a call for Marathon-goers to send in photos and videos taken in the moments leading up to the attack. It was this information, coupled with CCTV footage that led to the identification of the Tsarnaev brothers as the culprits.

However, it took the FBI and hundreds of detectives, working around the clock to process the enormous volume of evidence and bring closure to the investigation. It was a similar story two years earlier in London, following the riots of 2011. The subsequent investigation process involved 500 officers trawling through more than 200,000 hours of CCTV footage.

The idea is simple: as private detective Bill Warner learns new information, he puts out articles detailing what he's found, in hopes of re-energizing the case with the media and obtain tips from the general public. A&E 'The Killing Season"...After private investigator Bill Warner's alarming revelation that there exists long haul truckers moonlighting as serial killers. If you were absolutely riveted by A&E's docuseries The Killing Season , you're not alone — Josh Zeman and Rachel Mills' investigation into the infamous, unsolved Gilgo Beach murders shed light on a complex, fascinating case using crowd-sourced investigation techniques.
And, although the clues A&E's 'The Killing Season" unearthed may not lead to an arrest, the series raised awareness surrounding the broader issue of why sex workers are prime targets for serial killers — and this knowledge could potentially prevent future tragedies like the Gilgo Beach case. Zeman and Mills are skilled filmmakers and investigators, and many viewers are undoubtedly clamoring to see more of their work — so will The Killing Season return for Season 2?

FOX News: cyber vigilante private investigator Bill Warner. Cyber vigilantes typically troll the Internet, searching message boards, Web sites and media sharing sites for incendiary postings from people with ties to terror groups like Al Qaeda. Using Arabic translation software, they monitor postings and even assume fake identities to join online conversations.
One of them is Bill Warner, a Sarasota, Fla.-based private investigator and a self-proclaimed cyber-crusader. In the month of February PI Bill Warner was instrumental in helping shut down three Web sites hosted by a Tampa Internet service provider (ISP) that contained text, images and video related to attacks on U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan (Samir Khan's in Charlotte). One site (Samir Khan's in Charlotte) contained footage of a U.S. military mine sweeper being blown up by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). Bill Warner said the popular site is nearing 19 million hits over the last 10 months, and is among a growing number meant to incite would-be followers to join the ranks of extremist groups like Al Qaeda and provide information on how to carry out attacks and build weapons. "This is what Al Qaeda does now," said Warner. He said the World Wide Web is where the real fight for global jihad is being fought and won by terrorists. VICE NEWS: 247 pages of heavily redacted files on Samir Khan are the fourth installment of records the FBI began turning over to VICE News late last year in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. one file from February 2009 shows that an FBI counterterrorism agent sent a report to the Charlotte field office to report that the bureau's Public Access Center Unit received an anonymous tip on its "Internet Crime Complaint Center" website claiming that Khan made a death threat against a Sarasota, Florida private investigator, whose name was redacted from the FBI files. A news report about the incident, however, revealed that the private investigator is Bill Warner, who allegedly was responsible for shutting down Khan's blog.
