On the Run Moussa Oukabir is the Driver of the Van that Mowed Down Dozens in Barcelona Terror attack

Moussa Oukabir, an 18-year-old Moroccan who lives in Barcelona, is being accused by his brother as being one suspects in an Islamic State-inspired terrorist attack in Barcelona, Spain. The attack took place August 17 and involved at least three suspects, police say. Police say that the driver of a white van sped down La Rambla, a well-known street in the city, and ran over many people near Maccabi, a kosher restaurant, before fleeing on foot.

Police had released the name of Moussa’s 28-year-old brother, Driss Oukabir, originally from Morocco. That came after a passport belonging to Driss was located inside of the van. However, a man claiming to be Driss came forward to police hours after the attack claiming he had nothing to do with it. He said his identification had been stolen by someone he believed to be his younger brother, who he suspected to be involved in the horrific attack.

Per CatalunyiaDiari: “Several sources report that the protagonist of this action was Moussa Oukabir, brother of Driss, 18. The young man lives in Barcelona and is thought to be one of the main authors of the facts. Likewise, the confusion and the confirmation-that has led Mossos to stop Driss Oukabir can be due to the fact that he was a resident of the penitentiary center of Figueres, where he left in 2012.”
