CHARLESTON, S.C. (Reuters) June 15 2017-. FBI opens probe of false 'dirty bomb' threat at South Carolina port. The FBI on Thursday said it was investigating a false threat that a "dirty bomb" was on a container ship at a terminal at the Port of Charleston in South Carolina. The terminal was shut on Wednesday night and reopened early Thursday morning by the U.S. Coast Guard after law enforcement officials completed a scan of the container ship Maersk Memphis, the Coast Guard said. The Federal Bureau of Investigation opened its investigation because it is a crime to make a false threat against a U.S.-flagged ship, said Donald Wood, a spokesman for the bureau in Columbia, South Carolina. The Maersk Memphis is a U.S.-flagged ship, according to the Maersk Line website.
CNN Report June 16, 2017...On Wednesday, we got new evidence of the potential real-world consequences as a trio of conspiracy theorists with a modest following inadvertently shut down part of one of the United States' largest ports. The theory: a cargo ship with a "dirty bomb" was just outside of Charleston, South Carolina. The notion came to life during a live YouTube broadcast Wednesday evening. During the broadcast, conspiracy theorist George Webb initially claimed a "source" had told him that there was "a dirty bomb planned for a major city." Based on the information from the "source," Webb said he believed Memphis might be the target. His "source" had "talked to five different sources," he said, adding that his source "had to drive there [to meet other sources] without cell phones." Webb went on to say of his source, "he's been right every time."
A couple of minutes later, however, Webb said the threat was actually not to the city of Memphis but to a ship, which he called the Memphis Maersk. (Its name is typically given the other way around, as the Maersk Memphis.) Webb's allegations were broadcast on "Crowdsource the Truth," a conspiracy theory YouTube channel with a relatively modest 11,000 subscribers. Two other people appeared on-screen with Webb, all remote of one another -- Webb said he was in Ohio. Throughout, the trio read and responded to live comments from their audience -- which reached 2,000 viewers at some points, according to one of the hosts. Using a free online tracking tool, viewers found that the ship was in or approaching the Port of Charleston in South Carolina. About an hour later, Webb's onscreen counterpart, Jason Goodman, who runs "Crowdsource the Truth," called a number he said was the Coast Guard while still live streaming.
The Coast Guard said in a further statement provided to CNN that the source of the threat had been detained by authorities for further questioning. The statement did not mention Webb's name, however. But Webb, whose full name is George Webb Sweigert, was in police custody in Zanesville, Ohio, on Thursday morning. He was, at the time, due in court, having been found in his car and suspected of being under the influence of alcohol. He came to police attention after a person reported a "suspicious car" in the early hours of Thursday morning, police in Zanesville told CNN. While in custody, Webb was questioned by the FBI about the Port of Charleston closure, Webb and a police spokesperson told CNN. Webb said during Wednesday's live stream, "I'm saying watch the Memphis Maersk because it could be that the bomb is on a ship and not the city." However on Friday, Webb denied to CNN starting the rumor and said his source did not tell him that there was a dirty bomb onboard the ship. When asked by CNN if he was troubled that the entire dirty bomb theory was false, Goodwin, told CNN, "I'm just glad there was no toxic radiological event."
Jason Goodman is/was worried that the NYPD at the bequest of the US Coast Guard would be kicking down his door at 252 7th Avenue, Apartment 6s, New York, New York 10001 for the false bomb threat he called in, but that's not how it works Jason. Jason Goodman and George Webb violated federal law with the False Bomb threat at the Port of Charleston, the FBI is the investigating agency that will handle the Jason Goodman and George Webb case and the FBI has their own SWAT team to make the arrest. The FBI will work very slowly building their case on Jason Goodman and George Webb and these guys can be sure that the FBI has full electronic surveillance on them 24/7. Newsflash for Jason the FBI pinged George Webb's cell phone to locate him in Ohio with a instrument called 'StringRay', which is widely used by
