SARASOTA HERLAD TRIBUNE: It should be no real surprise that Christian Theodore, 22, (THUG ON THE LEFT IN PHOTOS ABOVE) is charged with murder in an armed home invasion, one that took place last month in south Sarasota. In 2011, he was barely a legal adult when he and two accomplices did a similar crime, though no one was killed in that one. People were threatened at gunpoint and forced to lie on the floor and terrorized, and a man was beaten on the head — with the gun and other objects — and suffered severe scalp wounds, SEE MORE AT SHT.

PRIOR ARREST: Christian Theodore was taken into custody on 8/4/2011 in Manatee County, Florida and charged with home invasion with firearm, arrest warrant, see his photo above.

SARASOTA SHERIFF DEPT: The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has made three arrests in connection with the December 14, 2014, home invasion robbery during which Jonathan Jeffery was killed. Jeffery's wife Brandi told detectives three men wearing masks broke into their home, demanded drugs and cash, tied the couple up and held them at gunpoint. The suspects stole an X-Box, a bag of money and cell phones, and then one of them shot Jonathan in the back of his head. Early in the investigation, detectives identified two vehicles that were seen speeding away from the scene. Their travels before and after the murder were confirmed by video from several different locations.

A law enforcement bulletin describing one of the cars, a Mitsubishi Eclipse, was identified by a deputy who recently had contact with its driver, Christian Michael Theodore, DOB 10/27/92, 3040 Jennings Drive, Sarasota. Detectives found the second vehicle, a Honda Civic, at the Jennings Drive address, and determined it was driven by Theodore's girlfriend, Azalea Mendoza, DOB 8/21/95, whose mother owns the home.

Christian Theodore, 22, left, Azalea Mendoza, 19, and Byron James, 26, are accused in a home invasion robbery last month that left a man dead. (Photos provided by Sarasota County Sheriff's Office) Detectives also obtained surveillance video from Walmart on Cattlemen Road that shows Theodore and Byron Jones, DOB 8/9/88, 680 79th Terrace North, Apt. 308, Building 11, St. Petersburg, in the store three hours before the murder. They bought camouflage bandanas, gloves and cable ties matching the lot number found on the victims. On Monday, January 5, detectives brought Theodore in for questioning, and search warrants were executed at the Jennings Drive address and on both vehicles.

Theodore is charged with Second Degree Murder and Armed Home Invasion Robbery. He was on probation for a similar crime in Manatee County from 2011, and has a history of Aggravated Assault and weapons charges in Sarasota County.
Mendoza is charged with Accessory to Homicide after the Fact. Jones was taken into custody at his home yesterday with the assistance of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. He is charged with Principal to Second Degree Murder and is currently in the Pinellas County Jail.

A third man, Antione Battle of Atlanta, DOB 1/19/95, was also located at the home on Jennings Drive. He voluntarily came in for questioning but initially gave detectives an alias. They used the biometric rapid identification system, which identified him as Battle, who is wanted in Georgia for Felony Murder and three other charges. Police in Atlanta were looking for 19-year-old Antoine Battle in the shooting death of Kristofer Hunter, 17, at Langston Hughes High School after a football game on Oct. 3 2014. He is being held as a fugitive in the Sarasota County Jail and is not currently charged in this crime. This active investigation is still ongoing so nothing further will be released until the appropriate time.
