VIDEO: Abuse of Power As Dyer County TN Sheriff Box Takes Down 'JUSTICE for KAREN' Signs in Unsolved Murder of Karen Swift, Sheriff Says Signs are Political maybe it's time for a new Sheriff in town.
DYER COUNTY, TN - (WMC) - Karen Swift, a Dyer County wife and mother of four, went missing on Halloween 2011. Her body was later discovered in December of that same year, but her murder is still unsolved. Earlier this week, her former pastor, Gerald Scott, and his wife, Jenna, put six signs up across Dyer County that read, "Justice for Karen." "Around Paris, we have signs about Holly Bobo and so, I've seen those Bobo signs and it was like I was ashamed I hadn't done anything for Karen," said Jenna. The Scotts say it was their own personal effort to raise awareness of the unsolved murder.
"I am grateful that they have stepped up to the plate and brought awareness back," said Swift's sister, Lisa Currie. "I sometimes feel like Karen has been totally forgotten." Shortly after the signs went up, they were taken down. "Words couldn't explain the feeling. I was like, I told my husband when it happened, the only thing I could say was unbelievable," said Jenna. Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box says his department took the signs down because the signs did not reveal who had put them up. The sheriff says he doesn't want anything to distract from the Swift investigation. Sheriff Box also feels the Scotts effort was a direct political attack because they put one sign up against his own election sign.
