SARASOTA SOUTH GATE November 17 2012: Authorities in Sarasota County have arrested four women in connection with a string of burglaries that occurred in the South Gate Community. Samantha Smith, Brandy Kinney, Alyssa Conrad and Caroline Catarzi are facing a variety of charges including burglary. All four were booked into the Sarasota County Jail where they are being held on bond. According to a Sarasota County Sheriff's Office report the suspects committed the alleged crimes to support their drug habits. Investigators say the break-ins occurred within the past two weeks. The suspects stole a variety of valuables including cash and jewelry during the spree. The burglary ring was busted when deputies looking for Catarzi, the alleged ring leader, pulled over a silver KIA carrying three of the suspects. Inside the vehicle were a ‘plethora' of stolen items.

Caroline Catarzi DOB 4/18/1992, the ring leader, had a prior arrest in August of 2012 on burglary charges and dealing in stolen property.  Caroline Catarzi was living at 2052 Prospect St Sarasota Fl during the burglary sprre. The sheriff's office charges were for burglaries in the South Gate area where jewelry, coins and cash were stolen and some items were pawned to fund their Oxycodone addiction, according to the sheriff's office. The girl gang would knock on the front door, proceed to the rear if nobody answered and force their way into the home, according to the probable cause affidavit.
