Sarasota Herald-Tribune, Another Murder in Newtown as Charles Dailey Jr Shoots His Stepfather Tony "Buck" Waters a Standout Football Player in 1970's

SCSD....The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has arrested Charles Dailey, Jr., DOB 3/10/84, in connection with the shooting death of a Sarasota man early this morning, 4/13/2012. Deputies responded to 2652 26th Street at 4:00 a.m., after Dailey called 9-1-1 and reported that he had shot and killed his step-father. After the shooting Dailey said he put the gun on the couch and waited with two family members for deputies to arrive.

Once on scene deputies found the victim, 54-year-old Anthony Waters, deceased. Dailey is charged with Second Degree Murder and has been booked into the Sarasota County Jail where he is currently being held without bond.

The Victim Tony "Buck" Waters was a Sarasota High School graduate and tailback for the 1978 University of Florida Gators. Then-coach Doug Dickey described Waters as the "most improved player" of the year at the time.
