MANATEE COUNTY - Authorities are asking for the public’s help to find a hit-and-run driver who struck a motorcyclist and fled the scene in west Bradenton earlier this month. The accident that happened on March 18 around 1:45 a.m. at the intersection of 26th Street West and 38th Avenue West left a 27-year-old Bradenton man with serious injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
John McKinnon, 27 was ejected from his motorcycle after the car made a left turn in front of him and struck his cycle, FHP said. Now, FHP is looking for a white older model Oldsmobile with a dark blue top with heavy damage to its front or right front. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Barbara Ehrhart at 941-751-8350, ext. 31763.
The driver is reported to be a white male 50 to 60 years old, he was last seen heading east on 38th Avenue W towards Bayshore on the Lake Apartments and then turning right on 24th Street West heading toward Cortez Ave behind Home Depot. the vehicle had heavy damage to the front end and was a older model white Oldsmobile, 2 door, with a blue top, see map click here. You can run and you can hide but we will find you.
ATTENTION Body Shops and Repair Shops in the Bradenton Fl area did you work on an older white Oldsmobile with a blue top after March 18th, 2012? The car would have had heavy front end damage and possible damage to the radiator, the vehicle appears to be owned by a white male in his 50's to 60's and was involved in a hit and run that left a motorcycle rider laying in the street with serious injuries.
Why isn't the Florida Highway Patrol checking cameras near the intersection of 24th Street West and Cortez Ave for a older white Olds with a blue top and front end damage between 1:40a.m and 1:50a.m on March 18th, 2012, there probably was smoke coming out of the front end ?
