Terrorist Promoting Mosque, Dar Al Hijrah Islamic Center In Falls Church VA, Defends Their Ex-Imam Anwar al-Awlaki Saying No Allegations Proven.

FALLS CHURCH, Va. — At the Washington-area mosque where Anwar al-Awlaki preached a decade ago, there were few tears over the death of the influential al-Qaida figure who more than anyone gave the Dar al-Hijrah Islamic Center its association with international terrorism. But some found the way he was killed to be un-American.

When Anwar al-Awlaki served as Imam at Dar al-Hijrah from January 2001 to April 2002, 9/11 hijackers showed up.  Two of the Sept. 11 hijackers, Khalid al-Mihdhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi, worshipped there briefly when al-Awlaki was imam. Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Hasan, the suspect in the Fort Hood, Texas shootings that left 13 dead in 2009, attended services there occasionally.

Hassan Mohamed, 62, said no allegations against al-Awlaki had been proven. "I don't know why he should be killed," he said. "I don't approve of my government going around the world to kill innocent people (Anwar al-Awlaki ?)."  Leaders of the mosque issued a statement saying that although al-Awlaki "encouraged impressionable American-Muslims to attack their own country," they deplored "extra-judicial assassination (Anwar al-Awlaki ?)."  "He had an allure, Anwar al-Awlaki, he was charming," Abdul-Malik told reporters in 2009, shortly after the Fort Hood shootings that al-Awlaki praised.

Dar Al-Hijrah: D.C.’s Own Terror Factory;
When five young Muslim-American men were captured in Pakistan in December 2009 attempting to join up with a terrorist group, it was no surprise that they were quickly linked to the Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Falls Church, Virginia.

Newsweek reported that at least one of the men attended Dar al-Hijrah, while another recent report indicated that the others attended an associated spin-off mosque in Alexandria. They were also all leaders of Muslim Student Association chapters in the Washington, D.C., area.

No sooner had the men been arrested than did the usual terror apologists (CAIR, et al.) hold a press conference — covered by all the establishment media — expressing shock and amazement at the plot. Speaking at the press conference that day was Dar al-Hijrah Director of Outreach Imam Johari Abdul Malik, who feigned ignorance at how these young men had been recruited for jihad right under their own noses
