Marisa Storti the "Dancer" arrested at Cheetah Strip Club in Sarasota appears to have two black eyes in her booking photo, who punched her out, is this just another example of the abuse female "strippers" and/or "dancers" have to endure at the hands of male club managers? Self defense?

Sexual abuse of female "dancers" is rampant and widespread. Just a few years ago a Sarasota Sheriff Deputy followed home a "Dancer" from the Scoreboard Strip Club, pulled her over and forced her to perform oral sex on him at about 4 a.m. Oct. 1, 2004 while he was on patrol duty.  Ismael Sotomayor Jr., a deputy for less than a year, turned himself in at 4 a.m. Wednesday, a day after the Sheriff's Office issued a warrant for his arrest on one count of felony sexual battery. He denied assaulting the woman early one October morning, but was fired immediately after the arrest.

The dancer, whom deputies did not name, said she was driving home from work at The Scoreboard Lounge on Washington Boulevard at about 2:30 a.m. when she noticed a deputy's car following her on Bee Ridge Road, according to a search warrant.

Fearing arrest, she ducked into a service station and began pumping gas. But the deputy parked next to her, and started talking to her, according to the search warrant, which authorized the collection of a DNA sample from Sotomayor's mouth. She later told a detective she felt the deputy was "hitting on her," the warrant said.

In my experience working as a Private Investigator from Panama City Beach to Sarasota Fl, I have often tailed errant husbands to strip clubs like the Toy Box and the Golden Nugget in Panama City to DaVinci’s in Bradenton to Cheetah’s and the now closed Scoreboard in Sarasota Fl.

Girls working strip clubs do no get paid by the club, they pay to “dance”, they pay the club, the DJ, the bouncer and anybody else with their hand out to strut their stuff on the stage and pick up $25 to $50 per private dance, still paying the club at least 50% of each dance, rates are much higher for the action in the VIP rooms.

Strippers are “independent contractors” requiring them to pay fees — between $20 and $100 a night — to come to work, the dancer is forced to work only for tips and “pay for the pole,” they receive NO hourly wage.
