STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Described as “The Real Housewives on steroids” by its creator, a new show about Staten Island women involved in the mob lifestyle may become the latest hit on TV. Premiering April 17 at 8 p.m. on VH1, "Mob Wives" follows four mafia babes at a crossroads, struggling with their identities and families as they start over while their husbands or fathers do time for alleged mob-related activities.
UPDATE APRIL 26th 2011, "Mob Wives" Sleeps With The Fishes and it really stinks, but if you like to watch four fat, foul mothed, horse faced, way past their prime women throw their weight around in various bars and clubs, then this is for you.
The cast features: Karen Gravano, daughter of Mafia turncoat Salvatore (Sammy the Bull) Gravano; Drita D’avanzo, whose husband Lee is in prison for bank robbery; Renee Graziano, daughter of Anthony Graziano, an alleged high-ranking member of La Cosa Nostra, and Carla Facciolo, whose husband Joey Ferragamo was convicted of stock fraud.
“I want everyone to know that these women are just like anyone else, like any other single mom out there,” said Jennifer Graziano of JustJenn Productions, the show’s creator and executive producer. “The show to me is really about the struggles, trials and tribulations these women go through and hopefully conquer throughout the season.” MORE FROM THIS SOURCE..
NY POST...Staten Island can't catch a break. The city's most disrespected borough will be taking another beating on April 17 when the reality show "Mob Wives" begins airing. The Post got a sneak peek of the VH1 series, which follows four Richmond County broads -- each with varying degrees of Mafia pedigrees -- as they pull hair, wring necks, cuss and brawl their way around the city's former capital of trash. It makes "Jersey Shore" -- also heavily populated by Staten Islanders -- seem like high tea at Buckingham Palace.
"A rat is someone who doesn't mind their f--king business and gets involved with the cops," snarls hulking Renee Graziano, daughter of Anthony "The Little Guy" Graziano, reputed consigliere of the Bonanno crime family. "If you're a rat, you're not in my circle. Matter of fact, I'll make your life so f--king miserable you won't be able to hang out in anybody's circle."
"That's me, bitch," she adds. "Call me a Mafia princess, call me anything you want." "I beat up a lot of f--king people," boasts Drita D'avanzo, who grew up in a strict Albanian household and was disowned when she married reported Bonanno soldier Lee D'avanzo.
The show revolves around the return of Karen Gravano, 38 -- daughter of Sammy "Bull" Gravano, the infamous mob turncoat who took down John Gotti and the Gambino crime family -- to Staten Island after living for years with her father in the witness protection program. She is writing a memoir, which St. Martin's Press has bought for six figures.
"F--k Sammy The Bull. F--k John Gotti. I'm gangster and I'm coming home," Gravano barks at the cameras while she's packing up to leave Phoenix, Ariz., where she worked as a "house mom" at a strip club.
"My father always taught me don't be a tattletale, so when he cooperated I didn't understand why he was doing it," she says. "I felt betrayed. I was the daughter of Sammy The Bull; now I was the daughter of Sammy The Rat." MORE FROM THIS SOURCE.
