"For the first time since the 1960s, the liberation movement of black people in the U.S. is winning public recognition from international leaders. Representatives of the governments of Venezuela and Nicaragua, a leader of the Mexican/Indigenous rights movement will come together at the 5th Congress of the African People’s Socialist Party – USA (APSP-USA), July 10-14 in Washington, D.C.  Not since the support given to the Black Panther Party from countries such as Cuba and Algeria four decades ago, has the international community come forward to lend support."  The Congress will be convened by ASI Chairman Omali Yeshitela aka Joe Waller, founder of The Burning Spear Newspaper and http://www.uhurunews.com/.

Note that in the following photos of the UHURUs you never see the American flag in the background.  The FBI must have files that look like the Encyclopaedia Britannica with hundreds of thousands of articles on 60's radicals Penny Hess and BLACK MILITANT UHURU LEADER Joe Waller aka Omali Yeshitela.

UHURU LINKS TO CUBA AND CASTRO GO BACK DECADES.
UHURU The Burning Spear going to press Aug 2006 ; Messages from Cuban President Fidel Castro.  "We all recognize that the Cuban revolution is hated by all reaction and especially by the U.S. imperialist cutthroats because it is an example of the capacity of the people to overthrow their neocolonialist overlords, to defy and actually defeat imperialism and to build a society in the interests of the workers and toiling masses.

The African People’s Socialist Party joins with the peoples of the world and the Cuban people in expressing our well wishes to Comandante Fidel Castro and the revolutionary party of the Cuban people". WASHINGTON, Oct. 8 - Cuban espionage agents operating in the United States and Canada supplied limited aid to the Bill Ayers Weather Underground, a militant antiwar organization, in the late 1960's and early 1970's, according to a top-secret report of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The 400-page report, a copy of which has been obtained by The New York Times, was prepared in August 1976 after the Department of Justice opened a criminal investigation into charges that bureau agents had carried out illegal wiretaps in their attempts to apprehend Weathermen fugitives.

Three years before militant members of the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) split off to form the Weather Underground Organization in 1970, North Vietnamese and Cuban officials were influencing radical antiwar strategy through foreign meetings. Many of those meetings were held in Communist countries, including Hungary, Czechoslovakia and North Vietnam,” said a FBI 400 page report obtained by the New York Times.

After the Weathermen went “underground” in 1970 when many of them were being sought by the FBI on criminal charges, Cuban intelligence officers were in touch with them from both the Cuban Mission to the United Nations in New York and the Cuban Embassy in Canada.” Unrepentant terrorist former leading Weather Underground Organization (WUO) member William Ayers was aided by Fidel Castro’s Cuba in the 1970s, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) report.

The 400-page report, a copy of which was obtained by the New York Times, revealed that Cuban intelligence officers in the General Directorate of Intelligence (known by its initials in Spanish as the DGI, Cuba’s equivalent of the CIA) set up the Venceremos Brigades in which WUO members participated. It is woth remembering that the Venceremos Brigades were founded in 1969 by Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) radicals Carl Davidson and Tom Hayden.

Davidson and Tom Hayden take credit for having launched in 1969 the “Venceremos Brigades,” which covertly transported hundreds of young Americans to Cuba to help harvest sugar cane and interact with Havana’s communist revolutionary leadership. (The Brigades were organized by Fidel Castro’s Cuban intelligence agency, which trained “brigadistas” in guerrilla warfare techniques, including the use of arms and explosives.)

The conduit for contact in the United States was a group of intelligence agents assigned to the staff of the Cuban mission to the United Nations in New York. These agents arranged for American youths to be inculcated with revolutionary fervor and, occasionally, to be trained in practical weaponry by Cuban military officers through the so-called Venceremos Brigades.
•Cuban officials helped several Weather Underground adherents who feared arrest in the United States to travel to Prague, Czechoslovakia, and then to reenter the United States surreptitiously.
It also reported that contact with the Cubans in the United States was made at the Cuban Mission to the United Nations on East 67th Street in Manhattan. Several top officials stationed at the Embassy in 1969 and 1970 were identified in the report as Cuban espionage agents.
•In another incident, the report said, four Weathermen who had been in Cuba with the Venceremos Brigades were sent back to the United Stares through Czechoslovakia rather than through Canada with other brigade members to lessen their chances of being arrested by the United States authorities. The four wanted to get back to the United States safely after the explosion of a house in Greenwich Village killed two members of the Weather group, Dianna Oughton and Ted Gold, and the Cubans “obliged” them by making the European travel arrangements.

Joseph Waller, aka Omal Yeshitela, 68,; A much longer piece on Waller was found in the "Information Digest" of March 9, 1984 in the section " "Burning Spear: African Peoples Socialist Party." It gave more information about his past ties to violence-advocacy groups, crime, domestic terrorist support groups and even foreign terrorist groups in Ireland (IRSP), Palestine (PFLP), South Africa (PAC), El Salvador (FMLN), and Nicaragua (FSLN).

Joseph Waller, aka Omal Yeshitela, 68, ties to domestic marxist and terrorist support groups included the mixed marxist Mass Party Organizing Committee, led by marxist attorney Arthur Kinoy (CPUSA fronts, NLG, CCR), which later became the National Coalition for Independent Political Action (NCIPA) and the Weather Underground Organization's Prairie Fire Organizing Committee (PFOC).
Joe Waller's African Peoples Socialist Party (APSP) set up a "white" members support group known originally as the African People's Solidarity Committee (APSC), whose chairperson is Penny Hess, 65, which later became the Committee in Solidarity with African Independence (CSAI), a telephone booth-sized organization. The CSAI set up a front group for themselves called the African National Reparations Organization Support Committee (ANRO-SC).

This information on the ANRO/APSP and its ties to both the RNA and BLA are important because they also tie these marxist extremist groups into the white Weather Underground Organization  (WUO) of Bill Ayers and his wife Bernadine Dohrn. The old WUO morphed into the May 19th Communist Organization, led in part by Kathy Boudin, whose son Chesa has been raised by the Ayers while his mother serves a long sentence in jail for her part in the Nyack killings (his father is serving life for this crime).

The African National Reparations Organization (ANRO) is very interesting because so little is known about it by the public outside of the black extremist movements. According to the authoritative publication "Information Digest" of Aug. 17, 1984, this group "was established in November 1982 by the African People's Socialist Party (APSP), an Oakland-based Marxist group that occupies a niche (and a headquarters) previously filled by the Black Panther Party (BPP). The ANRO chairman is Dorothy Lewis, formerly a leader of the National Black Independent Political Party (NBIPP). APSP chairman Joseph Waller, aka Omal Yeshitela, founded APSP in St. Petersburg, Fla. in the early 1970's."

African People's Solidarity Committee (APSC) Chairwoman Penny Hess, her photo above, presented the history of ideological development within APSC as its leadership struggled against opportunism and subjectivism before temporarily disbanding in 1981.  When APSC reformed, with Penny Hess as its chairperson, the political line of African Internationalism had been consolidated around the question of reparations from the white community as a revolutionary and principled stance. “Reparations is our revolutionary work,” said Penny Hess.
