Dearborn Police arrested 63-year-old Roger Dale Stockham on Jan. 24 on a report that he was going to blow up the mosque, which is the largest place of worship for Muslims in metro Detroit and also houses the Muslim American Youth Academy.
He's very dangerous," Dearborn Police Chief Ron Haddad told the Free Press. "We took his threat to be very serious." Haddad said the man was previously known to law enforcement officials in other parts of the country. "He's had a long history of being angry with the United States government," Haddad said.

The Free Press said the Islamic Center of America 19500 Ford Road, in Dearborn was holding a funeral when Stockham was apprehended in the parking lot and up to 700 people were inside. Police said the suspect doesn't appear to have known about the funeral but he did target the region because of its large Muslim and Arab population.
Ron Haddad, police chief in Dearborn, Mich., told the Free Press that a witness said Stockham was planning to blow up the mosque. Stockham "appeared to be acting alone," Haddad said. "His threat has been mitigated." The newspaper said that an employee at a local bar called police after overhearing violent threats allegedly made by the man. The employee reportedly was afraid that Stockham was going to target Muslims or Arabs in the area.
At the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, Lt. Dave Brown said he didn't know about the allegations against Stockham until being called by a reporter. Brown said Stockham didn't have arrest warrants in the county and he had not been asked by police in Michigan to take any action in the case. A preliminary examination of the case is set for Friday in district court in Dearborn, according to the Free Press.
