MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - An explosion at a power plant in Connecticut has killed multiple people and an unknown number of people are injured.

A catastrophic explosion this morning at a gas-fired, 720MW electric power plant under construction in Middletown, Conn., has killed and injured an untold number of people, authorities fear.

A Connecticut search and rescue team is on scene at the leveled 137-acre Kleen Energy plant on the Connecticut River, which was scheduled to go online in June

Al Santostefano, the deputy fire marshal in Middletown, tells The Associated Press the explosion happened at 11:17 a.m. Sunday at the Kleen Energy power plant there and portions of the building blew away. He says 50 workers were in section of power plant where explosion happened.

He and Betsy Hard, deputy commissioner of the state Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, say they do not know how many people were killed or injured.

The explosion shook houses at least 10 miles away.  At least seven ambulances have been seen leaving the scene without their lights on.

US militant suspects complain of torture in Pakistan. Five Americans accused by Pakistan of links to Al-Qaeda-linked groups pleaded their innocence on Tuesday, saying they were being "set up" and tortured by the FBI and Pakistani police.

As they arrived for a remand hearing at a high-security court in the eastern city of Sargodha, one of the suspects tossed a scrap of toilet paper scrawled with writing from the window of the police van, an AFP reporter said.

"Since our arrest the USA, FBI and Pakistani police have tortured us. They are trying to set us up. We are innocent. They are trying to keep us from the public, media, our families and our lawyers. Help us," it read.

The piece of paper was signed by "Waqar, Ahmed, Ramy, Umar, Aman" -- the names of the five US citizens aged between 18 and 25, who were arrested in Sargodha in December but have yet to be charged.

The US embassy and a Pakistani jail official denied the men's allegations of mistreatment but defence lawyer Tariq Asad told reporters the detainees claimed they were subject to electric shocks.

"They have said they were given electric shocks in custody," he said. Asad quoted the detainees as alleging that they were threatened with having their passports destroyed and "being stabbed in the chest" if they reported their alleged mistreatment to the media.

Police have accused the men of trying to contact Al-Qaeda-linked groups and to plot attacks against Pakistan and its allies, more from this source..............

5. During the trial, the court has to be notified of any mistreatment of the brothers inside the prison.

AMW.. Pablo Barrio Report a Tip He Is On The Run (Cuba ?) ....Feds: Nationwide Auto Theft Ring Exposed.  Police say they found more than 100 individuals connected to the group, but ultimately decided only to indict the key players.

It all started in December 2006, when an FBI agent in Tampa, Fla. was asked to help local detectives look into the theft of several cars, stolen from an area dealership, which ended up in another state.

The investigators teamed up and uncovered a massive, highly-organized group of Cuban car thieves who were not only operating in the Tampa area, but also in Miami, Fla.; Chicago, Ill.; Texas; and even Mexico.  Investigators say the crew stole more than 1,000 vehicles.

Over the next two-and-a-half years, approximately 50 law enforcement agencies across the United States worked together as a task force to take down the criminal enterprise.

The investigation was called "Operation Dual Identity," because agents say the group was operating a car-cloning scheme.

The individuals that were arrested during the morning sweep were identified as:

1). Eduardo Izquierdo-Marquez, a/k/a "Papa." 46 years old, 290 West 32 Street, Hialeah, Florida.

3). Fernando Taurino Capote-Gonzalez, a/k/a "Flaco," 50 years old, 6840 North Waterway Drive, Miami, Florida.

4). Teddy Santana, 37 years old, Jalisco (Guadalajara), Mexico

This is how it worked:  An individual would contact the group and request a specific vehicle -- usually of the high-end variety -- to purchase. The group would then locate and steal that particular vehicle. The car thieves then searched online databases to find a matching car in another state.

Police say the purpose was to get the vehicle's VIN number, which is readily available online.  Once they had the VIN, the information was sent to another party in Mexico, where another crew produced counterfeit VIN plates and labels, as well as phony title documents.

The forged plates and paperwork were then sent to the United States and placed on the stolen vehicle. The stolen car was sold to the buyer with a whole new identity -- belonging to a car in another state.

Police say the stolen cars were often bought and sold several times, even ending up on eBay, Craigslist, and at other car dealerships.  According to FBI Special Agent in Charge Steve Ibison, "This case alone has uncovered estimated losses of more than $27 million."

Operation's Alleged Mastermind Flees Before Court Appearance.  Federal agents say Pablo Barrio, a former auto mechanic and convicted car thief, was the operation's main leader.  And agents say Barrio and his gang weren't just cloning cars: anything with a unique identifier was fair game, including credit cards, debit cards, and personal identities.

On March 24, 2009, federal agents took down 15 of the 17 members indicted for what agents describe as one of the largest auto theft rings in the United States. According to FBI Special Agent in Charge Steve Ibison, "This case alone has uncovered estimated losses of more than $27 million."

Police have recovered more than 500 stolen vehicles so far.  Barrio was was arrested, but allowed to bond out. He was placed on house arrest and required to wear an electronic ankle monitor.

But on the morning of April 16, 2009, Barrio's ankle monitor was turned off so that he could attend a mandatory court hearing, and Barrio never showed up (HOW STUPID ).

Police say Barrio took off, and may have fled to Mexico. Investigators say he could also be hiding in Florida, Texas, or Chicago.  Barrio is facing life in prison if convicted of all charges.

EVERETT, Washington — Coffee shops in the Seattle area introduced "bikini baristas" three years ago, hiring attractive young women to serve up steamy espressos and lattes while wearing as little as a G-string and pasties. But cities are now taking a closer look at the "sexpresso" stand craze after police investigations revealed that some baristas were serving coffee with a side of something not even legal at many strip clubs.

Five bikini baristas in Everett, north of Seattle, are accused of charging up to $80 to let customers fondle or photograph them as they put on erotic shows — sometimes in view of passing traffic. They face court dates on prostitution charges this month.

In images so graphic that officials were reluctant to release them under public disclosure requests, undercover officers photographed them spreading their legs while wearing while wearing crotchless panties or licking whipped cream off each other's exposed pubic regions. While such acts may not constitute traditional prostitution, authorities say they met the legal definition of engaging in sexual conduct for a fee.

"This is not Malibu Barbie standing at a coffee stand selling coffee," said City of Everett spokeswoman Kate Reardon. "We had citations for prostitution. That's totally different."

The bikini barista trend emerged in recent years as some espresso stands sought to stand out amid the heavy competition for coffee business in a region that is home to Starbucks.

There are now dozens of such shops in the region, with names like Brewlesque, Twin Perks and Java Juggs. They're typically stand-alone shacks along roadsides or in parking lots, often noticeable for their come-hither signs — "some like it hot," for example — and a long line of pick-up trucks at the window.

The bikini shops have always stirred up controversy, with some cities threatening to shut them down unless their employees covered up. Terrorist Majid Khan appears to have met with Aafia Saddiqui who is a MIT grad in microbiology, she had access to Anthrax while working at Brandeis Univ in Boston. Assistant United States Attorney Eric Bruce claimed that MIT graduate Aafia Siddiqui was willing to help with an anthrax attack. Eric Bruce repeatedly referred to a planned chemical attack by Majid Khan but never described the plot or when and where it would occur. He said a woman affiliated with al-Qaida opened a Maryland post office box in the names of herself and Majid Khan so immigration documents could be sent there.



Bruce said the woman (Aafia Siddiqui), if asked, would "help carry out a deadly Anthrax attack against the United States." Her whereabouts were unknown at that time. But it was the only mention of Anthrax in his opening statements and the prosecutor never said whether Anthrax was part of Majid Khan's plot. Aafia Siddiqui rented P.O. Box #187XX Baltimore MD 21206 for Majid Khan while he was in Pakistan meeting with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.



Al Qaeda facilitator Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali , otherwise known as Ammar al-Baluchi, states that he ordered Aafia Siddiqui to help get travel documents for Majid Khan who intended to blow up gas stations and bridges and poison reservoirs in the United States. His (Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali) biography also states that he married Siddiqui shortly before his capture which sheds light on Aafia Siddiqui's relationship to top Al Qaeda planners like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, who is Ammar al-Baluchi's uncle.

Marked only by a small neon sign on a side street in an upscale quarter of the city, the basement bar is dark and secluded, enveloped by an air of exclusivity. Omar brushes past the two heavyset Syrian thugs at the door and picks a booth in the back. A dozen or so wealthy Arab men are drinking whiskey and watching Russian strippers put on a show. By Western standards, the performances are tame, a succession of scantily clad women in burlesque costumes — Little Bo Peep, pigtailed schoolgirl, pole-climbing gymnast. But as Omar sips a 7 Up, he follows their every move with boyish wonder. Russian women, he tells me, are the most beautiful in the world. “It is as if their bodies are shaped with plastic, like dolls,” he says.

As a teenager in the mountains of Tora Bora, Omar had been his father’s chosen successor, the favored son meant to lead Al Qaeda and carry on global jihad. Then, in 2001, a few months before Osama bin Laden was to become the world’s most wanted man, Omar abandoned his father’s compound in Afghanistan. He left behind almost certain death for this: the world, Les Caves de Boys, life.

Now, as a dancer joins a drunken man in the booth next to us Omar reflects on his own connection to the strippers onstage. “I have talked to these women before,” he says. “I tell them my name. Sometimes they don’t believe I am a bin Laden. Sometimes they get mad. They have to dance like this because their country is poor. It was my father who made Russia poor, in the war in Afghanistan. He ruined their economy. He is doing the same thing to America right now.” Past two in the morning, a statuesque dancer emerges for the grand finale. Dressed in a red rhinestone bra and panties, with a black shimmy belt and an ostrich-feather crown, she gyrates her hips as Omar watches, mesmerized. Jane Felix-Browne, a 54-year-old mother of three and grandmother of five from Cheshire, was last week revealed to be the daughter-in-law of the most wanted man in the world.

She married 27-year-old (Jeddah) scrap dealer Omar Bin Laden in an Islamic ceremony after a whirlwind romance that began with a holiday in Egypt last September. Omar is the son of Osama Bin Laden, but has not seen his father for seven years.

When Jane's story broke, she said: 'I married the man I met and fell in love with. To me he is just Omar. He is the most beautiful person I have ever met. His heart is pure, he is pious, quiet, a true gentleman and he is my best friend.'

But it seems that, since then, life as Mrs Bin Laden has proved far from idyllic. And yesterday she emotionally revealed her desperation in the face of failing health, flagging funds and the inescapable stigma of her husband's parentage.

She said: 'To anyone who wants to give me £10million, I will give my full life story. I never wanted to sell my story but everyone is saying the most awful things about me.
'Nobody knows everything about my life. My story is worth it because I am married to the son of Osama Bin Laden. Omar doesn't have any money so I will provide for him. He is my husband and he is suffering because of all this. 'My children are suffering. But this money will not be for me. It will be for other people. I am writing a book and I intend to make a film. But at the moment I am desperately short of money.'

Mrs Bin Laden also revealed fears for her personal safety: 'I am so ill, I have to go to hospital now. I need somewhere I am safe. I'm sure Omar would come here to help me if he could. He's a dear, sweet man but he's got no money.

'I know I am an intriguing woman. I can't change my life and I'm not going to lie about it either. I know I can turn a lot of fellas on but I try not to be like that. My MS has made me all but celibate now anyway. But the authorities don't want me here in Egypt. I have to find somewhere to stay.

'I just want to go home but, of course, it's impossible. God knows what's going to happen in the future. What's my life going to be like?'

For Jane this is the latest, and darkest, chapter of a turbulent life that has encompassed six marriages, many lovers, a change of name and various incarnations.

Here comes the biker: Satan's Slaves at the 1986 wedding of John Metcalfe and Paula (now Jane), Zaina bin-Laden aka Jane Felix-Browne.

Her own background is murky. She was born in 1956 in Lowestoft, Suffolk, as Paula Joy Hanson, the second child of mechanic George Hanson and his wife Beryl. She has an older brother, David.


Yesterday she claimed her childhood was the root of problems that have dogged her adult life. Jane, now a practising Muslim who also goes by the name Zaina Mohama al Sabah, said: 'People ask me why I get married all the time and I say it's because of my childhood.

'At 11 years old, I started running away from home because I was beaten by an uncle. I was taken to a children's court in Manchester and they sent me to a residential unit where I spent nine months. My problems stem from those times.'


The problems are many ? as are the ex-husbands. At just 16, she married a Saudi man in an Islamic ceremony in London, though there is no record of this. In 1979, she married Anthony Lomas, a furrier based in Manchester. They had two sons ? Vincent, now 28, and Dean, 27.  But the marriage quickly foundered with Jane's infidelity. She embarked on an affair with a man whom she and Lomas met through a shared interest in CB radios ? former Hell's Angel Peter Dakin, now 51 and living in Manchester.

He recalled: 'Her CB radio handle was Ebony Queen because of her long, dark hair. But she should have been called Evil Witch after the way she treated me.'

Dakin and Jane embarked on a passionate affair. At the time, he was a member of the notorious bikers' chapter, Satan's Slaves, based in Prestwich, Manchester. 'She made the first moves,' he recalled. 'She always made it clear that whatever she wanted she would get. She was a very determined lady.'

The affair was discovered when Jane's husband overheard them talking on CB radio. Lomas moved out, leaving Jane and their sons ? then just 18 months and less than a year old ? and Dakin moved in. 'She always liked money and nice things,' Dakin recalled. 'We kept several horses, including an Arab mare and a stallion, and she became an expert rider. She told me she had changed her name from Paula to Jane. Perhaps she was trying to hide from her past.'

She even adopted the title 'Lady' ? an aristocratic affectation that dovetailed into her desire to be part of the Cheshire set, riding her horses, wearing fine clothes and living out a fantasy rather at odds with her biker-moll status.

Members of the Cheshire set would surely blanch at the spider's web tattoo across her back. But to Dakin 'she was a gorgeous-looking woman. She would turn people's heads and our relationship was terrific in every way. 'But we began to mistrust each other. I worked as a labourer and she would turn up at building sites and sit in her car, staring at me. Then we began to argue.'

The relationship came to a furious end when Jane slept with Peter Dakin's younger brother Keith ? seducing the 18-year-old in a hayloft, more from this source..................
