Bali Bomber Dulmatin Killed in shoot-out with Police, Dulmatin was a used car dealer and electronics expert.

From Times Online March 9, 2010, Bali bomber mastermind Dulmatin 'killed in shoot-out'. The alleged mastermind behind the 2002 Bali bombings is believed to have been killed in a shoot-out with Indonesian police on the outskirts of Jakarta today.
Dulmatin, nicknamed "the Genius", was an explosives expert who was believed to have set off one of the Bali bombs with a mobile phone, as well as helping to assemble the massive car bomb used in the attacks, which killed 202 people.
The shoot-out happened during a morning raid on a house in Pamulang city, west of the Indonesian capital. Police said the raid, which comes two weeks before a visit by President Obama, targeted Dulmatin and two other senior members of the militant Islamist organisation Jemaah Islamiyah.

Indonesia's counter-terrorism unit, Detachment 88, has launched a series of raids across the archipelago following the discovery of a militant Islamic training camp in Aceh, on the island of Sumatra, last month, more from this source...........

Reuters, Sunday, November 17, 2002; 10:41 AM.....“Dulmatin is from Central Java...he is a second-hand car dealer, an electronics expert and his role was to detonate the bombs by cellular phone,” Major-General I Made Mangku Pastika, head of a multinational team searching for the bombers, told a news conference in Bali.  “We know the bombs were operated through a cellular phone, the one who...exploded them is him (Dulmatin).”  Police say they do not know Dulmatin’s whereabouts and have so far arrested only one man, named Amrozi, who has confessed to involvement in the blasts. Pastika said Dulmatin also helped assemble the bombs that tore through Bali’s popular Kuta Beach area on October 12, killing many foreign tourists.

On October 12, 2002, a suicide bomber entered the Sari Nightclub in Bali, Indonesia, and detonated a bomb in his backpack. Fifteen seconds later, those fleeing the club were met with another attack when a powerful car bomb was detonated across the street at Paddy’s Irish Bar. The final death toll was 202, including seven Americans. These victims were citizens of more than 20 different countries, primarily young tourists on vacation. Hundreds of others suffered severe burns and other injuries. Several members of the Jemaah Islamiyah terrorist group have been convicted in relation to this attack.

Dulmatin is believed to be one of the masterminds responsible for planning these attacks, which comprise the deadliest act of terrorism in Indonesian history. He is an electronics specialist with training in al-Qa'ida camps in Afghanistan, and is a senior figure in the Jemaah Islamiyah terrorist organization.
