A former mob lieutenant who survived testifying against his boss James “Whitey” Bulger was found frozen dead in a Quincy MA snowbank yesterday, the apparent casualty of a hit-and-run driver. Sources confirmed the victim is Paul “Polecat” Moore, 63, of Milton MA, a one-time member of the fugitive serial killer’s Whitey Bulger's South Boston crew. His body was discovered on Robertson Road at 7 a.m. by a passer-by.
Police said they plucked from the snow pieces of the vehicle they believe ran him down, including a side mirror casing they suspect tore off an SUV or pickup truck. When Moore was pinched by the feds in 1990 for dealing drugs on Bulger’s behalf and sent to prison, friends and sources said he asked Bulger to take care of his wife and children. Bulger didn’t, and so Moore turned government witness against him.
Bulger, 80, the FBI’s second-most-wanted fugitive in the world, has been on the lam for more than a decade, charged with the murders of 19 men and women.

Whitey Bulger stashed money all over the world, and he leaves no paper trail, paying only in cash, $100 bills. Based on intelligence, we have a strong picture of Bulger’s personality:
1). He is an avid reader who frequents libraries, an animal lover, and a fitness nut who takes long walks on the beach.
2). He is a history buff with a compulsive urge for collecting videotapes and books about World War II and Adolph Hitler.
3). He loves to travel, frequently visiting historic landmarks and museums, and has traveled widely in France, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Canada.
4). He is said to always carry a knife.

None of the sightings have been confirmed, and many have been ruled out as look-alikes. Still, Teahan said the task force has taken the tips seriously, given that Florida is a popular retirement destination and Bulger owned a condominium in Clearwater Fl and had secret bank accounts stashed all over the state before he went on the run.

“Paul Moore was one of the toughest guys that ever came out of South Boston,” said former state Sen. Joseph Timilty, who, convicted of conspiracy to commit fraud in 1993, became pals with Moore in the federal pen in Schuykill, Pa.
“He was very, very close to (his family). When he went away he thought they were going to be taken care of and they weren’t. He was led astray by Whitey and his troops in a very bad way, but that’s nothing that should surprise anybody. That was (Whitey’s) M.O.,” Timilty said.
Timilty said Moore, a former boxer whom he called “loyal to a fault,” and "tough as hell" had been working as a longshoreman on the docks in Southie, more from this source.........
