The Boston office of the FBI says that 27-year-old terrorism suspect Tariq Mehanna is inept and amateurish, a dreamer of being a great soldier of jihad. Mr. Mehanna had an initial court appearance Wednesday and is charged with Conspiracy to Provide Material Support. Mehanna was also charged in January of this year with providing false statements to the FBI in connection with another terrorism investigation.
Florida private investigator Bill Warner specializes in terrorism and he says that Tariq Mehanna isn’t dangerous because of his unsuccessful terrorism plans. Mr. Mehanna is dangerous because of his connections and because he openly promoted jihad through his web site.
Mr. Mehanna blogged under the pseudonym Abu Sayaba and Mr. Warner says Mehanna enjoys posting inflammatory articles. “He posted an article called ‘Make Martyrdom What You Seek.’ The FBI has noted that he posted it on his web site, but it was posted earlier by Samir Khan in March, 2008.”
Samir Khan is another pro-jihad blogger who lives near Charlotte, North Carolina and Mr. Mehanna connected with Mr. Khan through the internet. Samir Khan blogs under the pseudonym InshaAllah Shahid.
Warner reports that Mr. Khan has also been investigated, “Samir Khan has been the subject of a lot of investigations by the FBI and the local police because of his anti-American, pro Al-Qaeda web site.”Mr. Warner adds that, “The feds have shut down his web site two or three times in the last two years. He was the subject of several articles because of his advocacy of jihad against the United States.”
"They both post articles with videos on the internet that show prisoners being executed, cars being blown up and U. S. soldiers being killed,” Mr. Warner explained further. Details of the blog posts and videos distributed by Mr. Mehanna are verified by the criminal complaint filed by the FBI, more from this source..........................
