The attacker is still out there. No arrests have been made. Home-invasion beatings have some area residents turning to guns, dogs, alarms and self-defense. Gerald Colbert teaches introductory National Rifle Association gun safety classes in Sarasota.

Since the attacks, half of the participants enrolled in his classes are women. Before, classes of about 15 people had only one or two women. Some of the new students are in their 80s, he says.

Sarasota County investigators say the suspect in a composite sketch released by Manatee County investigators from a March attack in Bradenton is not responsible for all ten home invasions. "That depiction is of a possible suspect in one particular case. This case may or may not be related to the others. It is not one of those linked by the evidence previously mentioned. Continued circulation of that composite in regards to this overall investigation may be detrimental," says Col. Steve Burns of the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.

The Sarasota Bradenton home invader strikes his victims in the head with a gun after he has bound them with cords or rope he finds in their homes, then grabs cash, credit cards, jewelry, computers and electronics, he took a large plasma 54" TV from a Bradenton home invasion, (something a van or pick-up truck would be needed to transport).
