Sarasota Bradenton Home Invasions, During Daylight Hours, Attacker Pistol Whips Victims After Taking Items, One Dead.

Ten Home invasion attacks in Manatee and Sarasota, during daylight hours, at night and early morning. One against an 84-year-old woman, bound and pistol whipped last month in northwest Bradenton. UPDATE...Tuesday, May 26, 2009, Masked Man Beats and Rapes Woman In Her Home On Siesta Key, The Attack Mimics 10 Other Sarasota-Bradenton Home Invasion Serial Attacks of Women.

Attacker pistol whips victims after taking items and binding the victims, one dead, Georgeann Smith in Sarasota. Attacker always wears a black ski mask, appears to be white male, 35 to 55 years old, black hair, about 6' 0" tall and 180 lbs.

The most recent Home Invasion, an older couple (60's) on Riverview Boulevard Bradenton, brutally beaten last Monday April 20th 2009 at about 12:20 pm. It’s got usually tranquil neighborhoods on edge.

A man standing six feet and weighing about 180 pounds targets upper middle class residential neighborhoods and mostly female victims. In most cases the victims are much older than 50. He often wears dark colored clothing and a ski mask.

Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Col. Steve Burns said a task force was formed between law enforcement agencies in Sarasota and Manatee counties in which detectives meet weekly to exchange information.

The attacks appear to have occurred in broad daylight which leads me to believe the male perp has some kind of job and marked vehicle that would not arouse suspicion as he cases the houses beforehand, a job that would imply that he had no criminal record and was trustworthy.

The male perp (attacker) must be also able to access information on who lives in the houses he cases, to identify single women in a certain age bracket. The attacks, which authorities say are unprecedented in their brutality and brazen nature, continue to have law enforcement on alert and residents terrified.

Detectives are still investigating if the break-ins have been committed by the same man, as they brace for the possibility of more attacks. “I have never seen anything like this, with this kind of violence in the daytime, so we are very concerned,” according to Manatee County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Dave Bristow.
