Somalis in US Eyed by FBI, Many Had Left Seattle & Minn. to Fight with Al-Shabaab Terrorists in Mogadishu, Recruited on the 'Net' from Vancouver WA.

Somalis In U.S. Draw FBI Attention, Many Have Left Seattle WA, Minneapolis-St. Paul and Columbus Ohio to Fight with the Al-Shabaab Terrorists in Mogadishu. Terrorists Recruited on the Internet from Vancouver WA.

UPDATE..Sunday, January 25, 2009, SOMALI AL-SHABAAB TERRORIST RECRUITING WEBSITE HOSTED IN VANCOUVER WA USA, WWW.KATAAIB.NET APPEARS TO BE SHUT DOWN. The FBI is expanding contacts with Somali immigrant communities in the U.S., especially in Seattle WA and the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, fearing that terrorists are recruiting young men for suicide missions in their homeland, Somalia where the Al-Shabaab terrorists linked to Al-Qaeda have taken over most of the country and are now in Mogadishu (Black Hawk Down ll ?).

In regards to the recruitment of these Somali men in the USA, the Al-Shabaab terrorists in Somalia run a slick recruitment website based out of Vancouver WA (hosted by the Dotster Co) that is broadcast in their native "Swahili language", click here with all kinds of Al-Qaeda videos and one whole page dedicated to the Somali Shadid's (Martyrs) who died for the cause, click here. This website www.kataaib.net instructs the new recruits how to get to Somalia and who to contact.

FBI Special Agent E.K. Wilson, spokesman for the Twin Cities FBI field office, described the effort as community outreach. Many members of the Somali community are concerned over disappearances, he said.

Officials would not provide the exact number of missing, but about 20 men in their late teens and early 20s have disappeared in recent months and are thought to have joined Islamist rebels (Al-Shabaab) who are on the verge of overthrowing the U.S.- and U.N.-backed government in Somalia.

Most were from the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, the site of the largest concentration of ethnic Somalis in the U.S., but other Somali communities have had young men go missing as well.

The FBI assisted in returning the remains of one Somali man, Shirwa Ahmed, a naturalized U.S. citizen killed Oct. 29 in a suicide bombing in northern Somalia. The FBI would not say whether Mr. Ahmed was a bomber or victim in the attack, in which five terrorists killed themselves and 29 others (he was a suicide bomber see video click here).

In another incident, U.S. officials confirmed that a missile strike in Somalia had killed a Seattle WA man suspected of being an Islamist radical working with an al Qaeda-affiliated group (that would be Al-Shabaab).

Ruben Shumpert, a Muslim convert who changed his name to Amir Abdul Muhaimin, had been wanted on federal gun charges in Seattle WA. He was killed in Somalia sometime before Oct. 1, said U.S. officials who described the strike as part of anti-terrorist military operations carried out in recent months.

I had been aware of US Speial Operations Teams (kill teams) doing Search and Destroy Missions inside Somalia since Monday, July 28, 2008, WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE; MEMBERS OF AL-SHABAAB AND/OR AL-QAEDA IN SOMALIA

“The FBI is aware of the issue,” said Richard Kolko, an FBI spokesman in Washington. “We know many in the Somali community are concerned about it.” Mr. Kolko declined further comment. Ahmed Elmi, chairman of the Washington-based Somali-American Community Association (SACA), said he knew of no one in the Washington area’s relatively tiny Somali community who had disappeared or of any recruitment here of would-be Islamist fighters.

Al-Shabaab terrorists are now posting "Shahiid (suicide) videos click here" on their website www.kataaib.net seeking future recruits. All of this is taking place thanks to the Dotster Web Hosting Company and The Columbian Newspaper in Vancouver Wa, USA.... Vancouver WA is in the USA, isn't it ?

The Columbian Newspaper; In our view: Internet censor (Bill Warner) Wednesday, May 07, 2008; A Florida man’s heart might be in the right place, but he is misguided in his bid to get a Vancouver Internet service company to drop a Somali-language Web site (Al-shabaab terrorists). Bill Warner, a Sarasota private investigator (www.wbipi.com ), wants Dotster Inc. of Vancouver to refuse service to kataaib.net .

Warner, who has launched similar purge efforts in other cities with other Internet companies, says kataaib.net supports an al-Qaida organization in Somalia, where war and genocide are tragic facts of daily life (THEY ARE AN aL-QAIDA ORGANIZATION SEE LA TIMES ARTICLE).

“There are groups like this one that associate with al-Qaida through Web sites that help promote the ideology, help find new recruits and help the effort to support terrorism,” Warner said in a Tuesday Columbian story by Courtney Sherwood. “It’s not freedom of speech. This site should not be hosted in Vancouver".

Certainly the world has changed since 9/11, and we don’t fault any citizen for being alert to signs of possible terrorism. But the line separating suspicion (and the alerting of authorities) from vigilantism and paranoia gets blurry fast, as it did in World War II when the U.S. government rounded up 120,000 Japanese Americans on the West Coast and put them in camps, for fear they would assist the Axis countries. Dotster, which employs about 100 here and has clients worldwide, already works closely with the FBI and other law-enforcement agencies, says its CEO, Clint Page.
