Presidential security team swamps the neighbourhood with members of the U.S. Secret Service Counter Assault Team, can Bill Ayers get in ?

From The Times of London Saturday, November 08, 2008....Obama's Heightened Security Turns Chicago Neighborhood Into Virtual Fortress, Secret Service has taken over once easy-going Chicago area where president-elect resides. Photos above are members of U.S. Secret Service Counter Assault Team that guards Pres.-Elect Barack Obama. Will Bill Ayers be able to visit Obama ? I wonder how many of the U.S. Secret Service Counter Assault Team members had fathers or uncles in the FBI, NYPD or the Capital Police when Bill Ayers was blowing up buildings on the East Coast with the Weather Underground (Cop Killers). These U.S. Secret Service Counter Assault Team members look like they shoot first and ask questions later, sorry Bill.

President-elect Barack Obama's Chicago neighborhood has become a very different place to live now that Secret Service agents have turned the once easy-going area into a virtual fortress to protect the next president, The Times of London reported.

Assassination fears surrounding Obama, codenamed "Renegade" by his security on the campaign trail, mean that he may become the most heavily guarded president in history. After months of shaking hands with strangers, the President-elect delivered his victory speech from behind bulletproof glass in Chicago's Grant Park.

Streets around his mock-Georgian mansion in enclave by the University of Chicago have been closed. The main thoroughfare has been shut down because it passes his yard. Visitors to the synagogue that faces his house must put their names on a list 24 hours before they attend so that their identities can be checked.

Prior to the 2008 Presidential election, the Secret Service generally protected major candidates over the 120 days preceding an election. On May 3, 2007, the Secret Service announced that Senator Barack Obama would also have protection following a request from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, due in part to racially motivated threats against the candidate.

Mr Obama is an undeniable target in a country with more than 200 million registered firearms which has seen the assassination of four presidents – Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield, William McKinley and John F. Kennedy. Eight others have survived attempts on their lives. “The protective-security threat and the challenges surrounding the protection for him is extremely difficult. It’s going to take a lot of resources and a tremendous amount of protective and tactical analysis to stay ahead of the bad guys,” said Fred Burton, vice-president of counter-terrorism at Stratfor, a geopolitical intelligence analysis firm.

"I live one block away. I get carded to go on my block," said Adrienne Stone, 33, a U.S. Air Force veteran. "I have become accustomed to the Secret Service being everywhere. I don't get a lot of sleep. There are helicopters overhead. But he deserves this. We have lost too many leaders before their time," she said.

On October 20, 1981, several members of the Weather Underground undertook the robbery of a bank to finance their terrorist activities. During the robbery the group murdered an armored car guard and two members of the Nyack, New York, Police Department – Officer Waverly Brown and Sergeant Edward O’Grady,. a Vietnam War veteran. Unlike with Sergeant McDonnell’s murder, this case was quickly solved and several members of the group were sentenced to lengthy prison terms.

Sergeant McDonnell, Officer Brown, and Sergeant O’Grady were just three of over a dozen law enforcement officers killed by radical, domestic terrorist groups during the 1970s and 1980s. Their memories may be forgotten by those who killed them and walk free – whether through lack of arrest and prosecution in McDonnell’s case or having served their sentences in Brown’s and O’Grady’s cases – but they will never be forgotten by their brothers and sisters in law enforcement.

Bernardine Dohrn (Bill Ayres wife), was once labeled “the most dangerous woman in America” by none other than J. Edgar Hoover and Dohrn proclaimed, “I consider myself a revolutionary Communist”. .

It is unclear whether Obama knew the former fugitive Dohrn through Sidley & Austin but there is no doubt that, by the time Obama joined Sidley & Austin as a Summer associate, Obama had known Bill Ayers for at least two years through their involvement in Alliance for Better Chicago Schools in 1987.....Obama, 21 years involved with terrorist cop killers.

In 1976, the FBI's Chicago Field Office prepared a summary which described the activities of the Weather Underground Organization (Dohrn & Ayers), also known as Weathermen. This organization described itself as a revolutionary organization of communist men and women (Dohrn & Ayers).

The FBI's analysis of its motivations, beliefs, and international travels are outlined in this summary with photos and news article from the period..
