Hizb ut-Tahrir America May Be Ready for Its Public Debut, private Investigator Bill Warner first exposed Hizb ut-Tahrir in America (HTA) in Oct 2005

Hizb ut-Tahrir America May Be Ready for Its Public Debut Tuesday, 18 November 2008, Counterterrorism Blog, By Madeleine Gruen; Hizb ut-Tahrir America (HTA) may perceive itself as ready to emerge from the shadows in the USA, (finally admitting it's existance after it was exposed back in October 2005 in Queens NY).

A leaflet credited to HTA was posted today to khilafah.COM, one of the few official Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT) web sites.

It is the first time that the global organization has formally acknowledged the existence of HTA. The leaflet, originally dated October 28, 2008, is titled "Cooperate in Piety or Sin? Participation in the American Election." It calls for American Muslims not to participate in the U.S. presidential election.

The official acknowledgment of HTA's existence, as demonstrated by the publication of the leaflet on the Khalifah web site, possibly shows that the HT leadership perceives HTA is solid enough to withstand public knowledge of its existence and the potential for additional scrutiny that comes with that knowledge. ...Hizb Ut Tahrir or HT is an Islamic splinter group, which is banned in many countries around the world. It operates freely in Britain. But BBC News Newsnight has discovered that its website promotes racism and anti-Semitic hatred, calls suicide bombers martyrs, and urges Muslims to kill Jewish people.

Private Investigator Bill Warner first exposed the existance of HTA in Queens NY at the Masjid al-Fatima and Orange County CA on Sunday Oct. 9th 2005 ! Islamism: Hizb ut-Tahrir: A Danger To The West?

The original emir of Hizbut-Tahir America (HTA), Iyad Hilal, is a US citizen of Palestinian-Jordanian origin. He is the author of several books - Treaties in Islam, Gull Crisis, Palestinian Quest, Masiiahah in Islamic Activities (all in Arabic) and also Muslims in the West, in English. He is better known for his book "Studies in Usul ul-Fiqh". This treatise on Islamic jurisprudence can be found online in an edited version. This book is a required part of course material in the Fiqh course at the Qatar-based Islamic Studies Academy.

In August 2005 Stratfor stated that Hilal had been in the US for 20 years. He had been involved in HT since his youth. Hilal would travel between Orange County in California and New York (from the 1980s onward) while he was establishing the group. HT had offices in these locations, and between around 1991 to 1995, Hilal was imam of a mosque in New York. By 1995, the chapter in New York lost members in rows over ideology and leadership, a situation made worse in 1997 by the splintering of the Jordanian "Camp 2" from "Camp 1". Stratfor states that by 2000 many members of the New York branch had defected to Omar Bakris group Al Muhajiroun.

BBC journalist Richard Watson stated in a recent report (video) that at the end of the 1990s, Omar Bakri Mohammed wanted to expand into the US. The information on what had happened in New Yorks HT chapter was made more clear by private investigator Bill Warner.

On Sunday October 9th 2005 (see date stamp on photo above) private investigator Bill Warner had taken BBC reporter Richard Watson to the Masjid al-Fatima on 37th Avenue, Woodside in Queens. Here, the BBC filmed Aqeel Khan, the founder and secretary of the Queens Islamic Center at the mosque, while Bill Warner interviewed him. During the mid 1990s, the mosque had been infiltrated by radical members of Hizb ut-Tahrir (Iyad Hilal), much as they had tried to take over the Croydon mosque in London. Iyad Hilal lists address's near the Masjid al-Fatima Woodside Ave Queens NY during the 1990's.

Aqeel Khan said: "They had their own programs, which were not the directions of the mosque... There were five times (a day) prayer, but then they had their own meetings here and we - the general public - were not invited." The Hizb ut-Tahrir members were officially ousted from the Queens mosque after $400,000 went missing from the masjid funds, but they continued to frequent the mosque. It appears to be at this mosque, where radical Hizb members already worshipped, that Al Muhajiroun developed its first US presence.

The ideology of Hizb was similar to that of Bakris Al Muhajiroun, but the latter groups direct methods appealed to young radicals. Individuals such as Syed "Fahad" Hashmi from Flushing, Queens, had became involved in Al Muhajiroun. Hashmi, who formerly belonged to the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) is thought to have introduced Mohammed Junaid Babar to Al Muhajiroun. Babar had been a student at St Johns University. Both attended the Masjid al-Fatima.

An Orange County grocery store owner has been questioned by the FBI in connection with his membership in an Islamic group (Hizb ut-Tahrir) banned in parts of Europe and the Middle East for its radical views, according to FBI and Islamic Institute of Orange County officials.

Bakri Mohammed, a cleric who has praised the Sept. 11, 2001, hijackers, fled the United Kingdom in August after British Prime Minister Tony Blair proposed banning Hizb ut-Tahrir in connection with the London bombings. Bakri Mohammed identified Iyad Hilal as the head of the U.S. branch of Hizb ut-Tahrir in an interview he gave to The Jamestown Foundation in Washington, D.C..

Iyad K. Hilal, 59, an amateur writer and philosopher on Islamic themes was accused by a Fox News commentator, John Loftus, of being the head of the California-based faction of Hizb ut- Tahrir, or Party of Liberation, a fragmented group of Muslim scholars and activists in Europe, the Middle East and the U.S. No charges have been filed against Hilal.

The FBI declined to describe its inquiries as a formal investigation. "We're looking into the matter," said FBI spokeswoman Cathy Viray. The Fox News allegations sparked media interest into the California group's activities and writings, which espouse, among other things, the incompatibility of Islam and democracy, and the return to the ancient Caliphate political system in Muslim countries. "They oppose the integration of Muslims into and their participation in the political process here in America."

Hilal, who was seen praying and talking with members of the Islamic Society of Orange County on Wednesday, did not return calls. His Garden Grove duplex was shuttered while staff at his small grocery off Cerritos Avenue in Stanton said he had not come to work. Officials at the Islamic Society of Orange County who talked with Hilal told the officials that the FBI had quizzed him about his involvement in any terror attacks.

The Islamic Society of Orange County Mosque and Garden Grove CA were also the breeding grounds for Al-Qaeda spokesman Adam Gadahn and Khalil al-Deek the author of Al-Qaida's killing manual."The Encyclopedia of Jihad" was found in 1999 in the home of Khalil al-Deek when he was arrested in connection with an alleged plot to bomb Jordan's main airport in the capital, Amman, on the eve of the millennium.
